Any members here dealing with Parkinsons disease, and would care to share their experiences??

I don’t have it but my good friend does. Took them a long time to diagnose it because he doesn’t have tremors or any shaking. His speech has slowed considerably and he drools a fair amount. Very slow in his movements but has been taking a medication for it since he was diagnosed and has improved all his symptoms quite a bit. I don’t know the name but because of his age they’re giving him the full dosage. He’s 88 and still very mentally sharp. His attitude is very good which helps with his symptoms. I wish I could share more but that’s what I know. It’s been going on for about 4 years and he’s actually improved in my book.

My former owner of the company I work for has it. He's been doing better these last few years cause of the advanced meds he's been receiving. He was diagnosed with it around ten years ago.

Tuff road, my brothers and I helped take care of my step dad in the later stages.
From what I learned through him and my mother is there is many many different forms of Parkinsons and they do not present the same in each person.
He lost strength & balance over time and speech was very hard.
I will say the road was as tuff on our mom as it was on him.
Start to finish 9 yrs but after looking back he had symptoms and things going on before that , just didn't know what it was.
Its a cruel disease some folks have it for 20 plus years, some for 5 or 10 not unlike MS.

He spent his life as a mechanic. Also was a strong person and never gave up.
A good man.

The meds only work for so long, then have no effect. Personally, I would put off taking them as long as I could and save them for the point where I couldn't sleep.
Also, never believe doctors without question or without a second or third opinion when they give a diagnosis of anything like Parkinson's.

My grandfather had it... could not keep his leg still when he sat down for a million bucks. Many of us are at "that age" where your gonna get something. SUX

True. My father had it. No tremors, but he started having a hard time getting up from a seated position. When talking to him, if the conversation took a pause, he would stare into space and when I said something to him, I'd have to repeat it once I got his attention again. Congestive heart failure got him before the Parkinson's did.

Pot works with Dopamines, as do the prescription drugs. I see a commercial on TV about Parkinson's victims having hallucinations which is also one of the contraindications of the at least one of the prescription drugs.
The medical pot dispensaries in Denver have been supplying for over 20 years. I would call one or two of them and see which strains of pot work best. Personally, I would start with the least aggressive therapy, pot, and do a lot of research on the rest.
