Passwords WTF

What the hell is up with these companies and their endless demands for setting up a portal, an online account and requiring a long detailed specialized impossible to remember passwords?!!
I tried to order some pre-mix salt packets for my sinus rinse from neilmed but they require all of my personal information including a long complicated password to set up an online account before I could order anything. And you can't buy anything from them without an account. What the **** do they think I'm going to do with "sinus rinse"?
Needless to say I did not order from them. But this seems to be an ever increasing trend with most online companies.

They want all your info, and hope you use the same password that you use for other accounts.
2-part verification is a pain, but does help prevent someone accessing your account with your password from a different computer.
A password protected spreadsheet with different accounts / passwords stored on a USB fob would be a fairly safe way to remember your passwords.

I get a charge out of members complaining about how the site works by posting in the General Forum instead of Website Questions and Suggestions. Just sayin'

I text my passwords to myself. It works.
My brother - Texting your passwords to yourself is not a protective measure - whom do you think is spying on and has access to your texts? How about the iMessage creator themselves. If you want to do things that way I suggest downloading Signal and sending them to your Signal account. Totally encrypted and Signal keeps nothing on their servers. I know so because I recently had to completely reset my phone erasing everything and then bringing it back from the Cloud. The only thing I lost was all Signal comms. I emailed Signal asking me how to retrieve all I had on their site - they responded there was no way as they don’t retain anything. Once gone it’s gone - it’s not in the Cloud or anywhere else. To me a better option for you if you want security and don’t want a downloaded password vault.

I had "Password is incorrect" in the NYDMV. Had to
change password "New password cannot be the same as the old password".......

Sometimes you have to wait 30 days for doing that....
Could be. I use new password and get sick of guessing because it's usually a website like FBBO that I go to only occasionally.

When I worked for the airline we had to change our password every 90 days, so I started just using the alphabet. Started with first 3 letters and my hire date, and every 90 days just moved one letter farther on. Worked for close to 20 years.

My workplace was every 30 days.....geez. When acting as a temp stooopidvisor and trying to do everyone's time and get out of there within a decent time and then get the 'renew password' screen just wasn't what I wanted to see!
