Peanut Farmer Down...

We went through Plains, GA on a family trip one summer in the late '70s while Carter was president. We stopped at brother Billy's gas station. I remember there were a few good 'ole boys sitting out front. And there was a sign of some sort - I think it said Billy Carter's Gas Station or something like that - hanging above the door by one fastener in the upper corner. Just hanging there ready to let loose and fall completely off.
Of course, no mention of Billy would be complete without remembering Billy Beer. Billy sure got some mileage out of his famous brother's name.

We all had to try it once, right?
(It was awful, by the way).

Wow... sorry I even bothered to post if guys can't just say RIP and move on. Not sure he can be totally blamed, we had 14+ percent mortgage rates here in that time frame as well, can't remember who was miking our country at the time.

Actually, most comments on Jimmy have been pretty reserved.

I'd much rather see this 1st
State of Jefferson, Conservative NE Calif. splitting off,
You would have to give up Humboldt and Del Norte counties to Oregon, otherwise they will wreck your new state like San Francisco and Los Angeles initially destroyed California.

In 1976, I was away at College in Southern Illinois when an election rally was held for him, and he attended. Viet Nam afterward being the catalyst, I didn't think very much about him but voted Dem because, in my misspent youth, I endorsed the Dems so he became President and began his term. During it, I lost any liking and held him as a feckless Boob as we spiraled downward and the Oil Crisis took a firm hold. Then his Iran hostage recovery failed, and Reagan was elected President. I became a Conservative and the rest is history as they say. A Humanitarian at heart and he did some very good deeds afterward, so he left us with a small legacy. 100 years is a very good run...Rip Mr. President...:praying::praying::praying::usflag::usflag::usflag:
