That is an interesting test in the video above, thanks for posting it. All drop bases cut down flow, which I would have guessed. But with the K&N open top/open side element, surprisingly it flowed better with the side blocked off and only drawing through the top. I'm not making over 600 hp, so I believe I will leave my setup alone.

Factory filter was 2.75"on the 13" round unsilenced air cleaner. If I lose 8hp going to get ice cream and pizza I will be ok haha!
