Can you run a petronix distributer with a factory tachometer? The reason I ask is I have a 1966 Satellite with factory console mounted tachometer. I have heard that they are not compatible is this true? If so can I run a Mopar electronic conversion and run factory tachometer?

My experience has been Pertronix always screwed up my factory tach. There tech line had me make a fix with a couple of resistors but that didn't work for me.
I always had to put a new electronic board into the tach's to correct the mismatch.
Not 100% sure about the Mopar Electronic ignition upgrade with an older tach. I believe you'll have the same problem.

I had the EXACT same experience with my 67 Charger and factor tach. The techs wanted me to modify, and I said no and sent it back.
I replaced it with the Mopar EI upgrade and it works beautifully.
I put the ECU on the the fender well down near the horns and unless you look for it, you don't see it - it looks factory. The only thing you DO need to do with the Mopar EI system is upgrade your voltage regulator to the electronic one and get rid of the points one. It isn't fast enough and will points will stick (ask me how I know). But the good news is you can get one with new guts that looks exactly like original.

I've had no problems with my 66 Charger and a Pertronix Ignitor. I guess I got lucky.

66 has a separate supply for the tach. 67 and up it is built in to the gauge.

ODZKing,
So are you saying I will not have any problems with a Petronix distribuiter since the tachometer has a separate supply?

I can't make any gaurantees. All I am sure about is it has worked for some guys with first gen Chargers and some not. Frankly if it is doing it all, I would not trust it.
Only thing I can recommend is where ever you get it from, be sure it is returnable if it doesn't perform properly.
