Spent the last few days with my out of town car buddies. First time they didn’t buy anything….and I think the better than just driver muscle cars but not concourse seemed to be selling for 20-25% less than before. Not too many B bodies.
Hit the MAG auction too which had a lot of nice stuff. Some MAG auction stuff pictures

Had a 78 Lebaron like that in high-school, 360 leather moonroof. Still got it. Thanks!

I hope enough of the rich guys that dropped stupid auction money on poorly done cars have gotten burned that the hype around all that dies down and prices can get back to where regular guys can afford to buy decent stuff again!

As to sales prices

Seemingly & Barrett Jackson auctions/all no reserve in Scottsdale this weekend
well over 2000 cars/trucks/suvs/customs/rods/automobilia collections etc.
almost everything was near or around $100k+ earlier in the week
& then Friday seemingly the average was like $175k+ (my perception, not fact)
top 10 need to be in like the $250k range plus, to $350k+ professional built resto-mods
are selling for more then, 'restorations OE style/stock', for the most part

I haven't watched todays version, big $$$ cars moving like crazy,
Sat. is big $$$ cars usually, early

Friday, a few nice MoPars 'cuda's were selling well, at great prices
even the 340 or 383 cars/vs the 440-6bbl & Hemi's normally only do

old & newer Mudstains & old Broncos were crazy priced, $150+ it seemed
resto-modded PUs & 4x4s are out of this world, pro-builds*

but all cars, mostly professionally build Resto-Mods/cars or trucks/suvs
all were selling for big $$$s, seems like more every year

IMO depends on 'what auction & the quality/quantity of said cars'
or the $$$ in the room at the time to spend

I never gauge sales or the collector car markets, by any auction
some are high some are lower,
most are higher than the free market outside of the auctions

people there credit approved to sell & money buy, money to spend
captured audiences, makes for good sales

I didn’t see anything at Mecum or BJ this month that I thought was 20-25% less. Collector car market is still full steam ahead.

My comment was from the sold cars in the tents. I didn’t have my phone with me so didn’t take pics. These were probably early cars in the week but still. I kept thinking those owners lost money as a lot of them looked built for auction and were decent. I do these auctions in person every year. There was a difference this year.

And then weird stuff at one of them the David Koresh Camaro.

I had '79 Dodge Dippy in same colour and wheels. '79's had squared off rear quarter window.
My brother had moved to Ontario in his 79 caravelle , and had to stop for an alternator when he looped down into the states on his way. The parts guy did not know what the f#*k he was talking about, so they had to go out to the parking lot to see this thing. They both agreed it really was a caravelle
