picking out rims is getting frustrating!!!

I found the rear rims I want, problem is the narrowest rim they make for the front is an 8 inch wheel. Is it even possible to fit an 8 on the front and if so what tire would be needed and backspacing?

What are you working on? I'm running 8" wide on the front and 10" on the back both are 0 offset on my 69 Charger (4" backspacing on fronts and 5" on the rears).

Those are my choices I need the 15x10s for the the mickeys on the back and really like the rim.

Well there are either 15 or 16s I can choose from for the front. But they have a bigger back spacing in 16 inch wheel. Not sure what I would need for back spacing and tire size for 8 inch wide rim.

the link you provided is for rims that are primarily for trunks and SUVs. Which may be a reason you are having a hard time finding ones that will fit your car.

Yea I realized that. Just think the style will really fit the car. It's a 68 coronet. So what does a 7" wheel need for back spacing, and theoretically an 8 " need?

What are you putting them on? 747 nailed it in my opinion. Zero offset or as close as you can get is the way to go from a mechanical stand point if you can get away with it in the rims you want. Many more factors to consider on the rears than the fronts.

Best bet is to get on the floor and do some measuring to figure clearance issues, look, stance, etc.

So I will pick the most common lowest offset for the rears in case I ever wanted to change rims. But I'm not familiar what I would need for the front in either a 7 or 8 inch wheel.

Above you said you weren't picky about the fronts so I assumed the rears were the question. Now the rears are no problem but the fronts are an issue. Kind of like an old woman buying shoes.

If the front rim you you really like only goes down to an 8", then go with it and get a zero offset or up to a 5" backset. There really isn't a huge difference between a 7 and an 8 when you think about it.

If going with that wide of a rim bugs you and you really want a 7", find new rims. It's as simple as that.

On my Bird I'm going with 17 x 8 on front, 18 x 10 in the rear but that's just me.

Thanks for the reply runner. So I can get a front in a 15x12 with 3.75 inches backspacing and 0 offset. So that should fit the car fine?

Fitment wise don't know on 15x12 in the front, but ride quality wise - I wouldn't go that wide..

15" x 8" would be pretty tight IMO, maybe too tight. I run a 15" x 7" with zero offset (3.5" backspacing) in the front and it's already really close. With the wheels turned, it's probably a 1/2-5/8" from the sidewall touching the fender lip. I would look for something with around -4.5" if you wanna run a 8". Just my 2 cents
