Probably fun as he'll to drive though! Second owner muscle cars lived a hard life back then. My oldest sister was dating a guy who bought a nice F5 green 69 Road Runner 383 4 speed car. Within a year he had beat the living schit out of the car. The hood had blown up and hit the windshield breaking it. The right rear quarter was crushed from end to end after side swiping a telephone pole after getting it loose. He blew up about 4 engines in it,and it was in pieces in his driveway before it was hauled off to the junkyard,it was a six year old car.
When there was plenty of junkyards around stocked full of treasure. Walk the rows and build your carProbably fun as he'll to drive though! Second owner muscle cars lived a hard life back then. That is how it was back in the day none of this perfect cars date coded spark plugs BS ……
100% correct, air intake should be right at the front of the hood or as far back as possible.I hate to say it, but Chevy's cowl induction really was a superior way to "ram" air into the car. Cars like my Air Grabber look cool as hell, but they really don't do to much to ram the air in - the scoop is too low. They do at least provide cooler air though...
There were a few exceptions to the rule, and I was fortunate enough to own two of them. Both acquired from the second owner - the '70 for $1500 in 1977, the '68 for $1800 in 1983, neither restored.Probably fun as he'll to drive though! I have an air grabber on my 70 ... but it does look cool though.
Perfect, just checkingWas he part of the Wayne county speed shop group?
Wonder if that 66 Hemi Charger was a friends car that crapped out on Mass Pike. He got out of the car and hitch hiked home. I had bought the Hemi and the trans from the guy who owned it and he bought the car. It was black inside and out but had a 383 in it when he left it.I started going to the junkyards in the late 70s and early 80s and the yards were full of cool cars. There was one yawhere the cars got older the further back you went in the yard,it was like going to a museum! The cars in the very back had wooden wheels! The yard had a 66 Hemi Charger, a 64 4 speed 383 Sport Fury,a state police 440 Fury 1,a 69 red Charger, and a. Orange 70 Road Runner up on top of a box truck. Another yard had a 70 Hemi GTX 4 speed car thar was a recovered theft, missing the engine transmission and Dana axle. The drivers side vent window was smashed out, steering column broken, and the air grabber hood said HEMI on the back of it! White car with a black vinyl top and sidestripes! They wanted $250 for the car!
Someone on FBBO may have this now... just a thought. Wonder if Zappa signed it anywhere?
