I grew up on the Canadian border. We went into Canada a lot. We had a nickname for the OPP
Over Protective Pricks. They did seem to harass us whenever the opportunity came up. And no, we were not wild.

Just one OPP encounter…I had a 69 charger that had a tail light that would work or not work sometimes. If I hit a bump it would come on. I must have been going a little fast in a beach cabin area at night and had time to park before they showed up. They were yelling who was driving this car….i said me, why. We saw you speeding and know it was this car and you have a taillight out. That’s when my buddy kicked the bumper. The OPP said turn on your lights….they both lit up. No ticket.

Did you grow up in Michigan or New York ? Maybe you frequented Grand bend if Michigan or Crystal Beach if New York ? Just guessing.

They were not all bad. One night, a bunch of us met out on a back straight piece of blacktop for some street racing. An O.P.P. cruiser showed up, and rather than a lecture or recording of our licence numbers, the officer suggested we go back to our drive-in restaurant hangout, and have a milkshake or something. We took it as sound advice.
Another time, a friend of mine sped into the range of a speed radar. The O.P.P. cruiser pulled him over. The officer came up to his window and said that he had been waiting half the afternoon for him to come along. My friend answered that he got there as quick as he could. The officer laughed and said, " Slow down a bit, and have a nice day. ".
