Pie tins gone CRAZY!

As far as I know, Mopar Performance has decided to discontinue making these. Licensed Mopar reproduction companies have decided not to reproduce them because Mopar Performance wants $50,000 just for the Production Rights which " doesn't even " include a per piece royalty fee. Due to MP's feeling that it would take this much for them to produce them again, I don't believe we will ever see these produced again by a company in the US. It would be really nice if we could get someone who currently works at Mopar Performance to respond to us about this issue. If anyone knows anyone who works there, please have them provide us with an update. I was fortunate enough to see this coming so I bought some NOS pie tins and Reproduction ones ahead of time. So, I have some of both but the prices can be high.
@Rich H. maybe?

Sorry, my earlier post may have included an advertiser's name by mistake ! I just wanted everyone that is looking for Pie Tins currently that there is a Pie Tin War with a large selection of engine sizes .... going on some popular site. It is rare to see this many pin tins for sale in a given period. Be careful, they are only available for 1 day longer ! Just want to help other members !

That’s because supposedly they are being reproduced by another supplier so everyone is getting the crazy $$$$ while they can…

Northern and Engraving made them plants in Sparta Wi and Spring Grove MN. And a plant in Northern Iowa. When they quit making them they junked skids of them. A friend of mine used them for shooting targets.

I have not heard that, so I would be very interested as to where you heard that. That would be nice if they made them again but I have talked with a Couple of Mopar Licensed Producers and they have told me the following: These are not being made anymore from Mopar Performance. MP believes the market for these due to age attrition and economic circumstances has decreased demand for these. There are a few Mopar Licensed Reproducers that would be interested in making these but they feel the cost quoted to them to reproduce them is way too high to entertain the idea..

So who is making them for Classic Ind as I see them now on EBay for sale when they where back ordered for the longest time

Call them at their 800 # and see if you can order them from them. Their website is the only catalog that says "They will be arriving soon. " CI is not usually a " Reproducer " of Mopar items. I think they want to be positive about the chances of receiving them again....but if you talk with other sellers of these in the past or a Past Mopar License Reproducer they will all tell you that MP has discontinued them.

Plus, you have to stop and think............These were starting to be made in approx. 1966. In 1966, production costs of most items were very low to make. The 60's were significant years of manufacturing growth. Mopar started adding these pie tins to the 67 models and ended use of them in the early 70"s. The number of muscle cars being made exploded during these years. So how many years ago was that from 2023 ??? Next with the rising costs of things these days ............Can you IMAGINE HOW MUCH MORE THESE WOULD COST TO PRODUCE AT "TODAYS" MANUFACTURING COSTS ? The companies that produced these way back when did not save all the molds, etc. to make these again ! What company would ..... to have the space to keep something like that that most likely would never be used again.? Again its 2023 now.....that was back in 1966. How many years ago was that? A licensed Mopar Producer has told me that it would cost them $50K JUST for the beginning cost to produce them and that doesn't a per piece commission to MP yet ! Now sadly to Add.....how many of our Mopar brothers driving those cars from the years of "67 - 74 are still around let alone in the market for a new pie tin for their air cleaners? It hurts me to write this but sadly it is the truth.

Don't forget the shipping cost!

i ordered an orange 440 one from classic over two years ago. Heard nothing since. I luckily grabbed a red one to get by.

I’m not giving 1500 bucks for one. I’ll live with my wrong one I got new for 90 bucks two years ago. I need to list my air cleaner with the 440 magnum one glued onto it. I just left it under my new one Rather than damage it. Not sure why somebody thought it necessary to glue. Chevy guys and their restos. SMH.

Just buy this flat one. Just need to be good with a hammer, dolly, and tin snips.
:p

Are you looking for the 440 Magnum or the Super Commando?

There is a Orange one on the bay right now but it is ending very soon !
Why don't you list it in the For Sale section on this site and then it won't matter if your eBay listing ends.

My car should have orange. It will wear red just fine. The one I have is a red 440 magnum that was glued down so it now sits under the Plymouth one I got from classic. Reasonably I could just get another breather and somebody I’m sure would be happy with the dodge one.

1969-71 Mopar "383 Magnum" Air Cleaner Pie Tin With Orange Logo - 10-1/2" dia. | eBay

Classic Ind

Orange 383 Magnum

These haven’t been available in years in Orange

So someone has to bee making them for Classic Ind

Can’t sell on eBay if the product isn’t available correct ?
Someone was making these for CI to sell. CI may still have a few amount of the 383's left but they don't have any 440's left. Their warehouse is so large they may have just located some extras. Again you won't know the true situation of most of the different engine sizes unless you call their 800 #
