What the heck do these two this say? I figured it would be +1, +2, or -1, etc. Yukon 3.55 set going in a 742 carrier. factory one below in second picture. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I'm well aware of what they are. :D But the top one isn't exactly clear. Looks like the symbol for centerline with a 9 after it.

just so you are aware there is an issue with Yukon gear sets for the 742 case -- they are not machined correctly where the pinion bearing preload shims sit -- you can read more about it on the A-body site go to Transmission and Drivetrain - page 5 ,,, 8.75 question ( may 12/20 ) start reading at post # 31 ,, also has good pic of the defect --- also on this site at--page 2 ,,, rear gear set ( June 10/20 ) ,, post # 33.
best to check the gear set you have as it will lead to difficulty trying to set the correct pinion bearing preload.

Yes, I thanked you for your post in that thread, John. I was hoping someone could decipher the markings on these two.

i guess i should have paid more attention -- anyways --- are those same numbers on the ring gear as well ,,if so they only mean that the ring and pinion are a matched set -- other than that the gear should have a checking distance (for example CD 2.761 ) etched on the ring gear near the backlash numbers.--- if no checking distance is there ,,, its trial and error but on a 742 case start with a .090 shim and work from there for the optimum gear pattern.
