Yes I finally have the cake to build the eng I really wanted to build for my 63 when I put it together. I plan to build a pump gas aluminum head stroker. It will be around 500 cubes and have about 11.0 comp. I will use a cam for max power that keeps the cyl pressure below 190 so it will run good on pump gas. I also plan to use CNC Eddy RPM heads. All I want is to still drive the car all the time including to the track and run in the 10's. That will make me real happy to drive to the track and pop off 10 second et's. I am looking for 10.80's or better. I also plan to change the converter to maybe an 8" unit. I will let you all know when I start building it. This will replace the .030 over 906 headed 10.0 comp 440 in it now. Ron

thats what im talking about, i keep telling my self my next motor will be over 500 inches ! oh yeah, and streetable !!! i already got worked eddy heads, just need a fat bottom end to set them on .......

Turning up the wick a bit Ron? Nice.

You shouldn't have any problem selling the existing engine, the performance speaks for itself.

If your new one runs as good as the old one, it's gonna be a killer.

Hey Ron, let me know if you need to get rid of some of the parts you have, i.e...your SD intake, current convertor, ported 906 heads etc......Glad to see your turning up the wick! I need a little something to get me by until I decide to do a complete tear down.

Good luck with the build! Is there a cross ram in its future?

Ron;sounds like what I'd like to build for the Sport Fury. Good luck!

I am curious about where you'll be going camshaft-wise,as I've got some +.030 open-chamber Venolias for a stock stroke 440 that should work out to 11:1 cr,and would like to run them, but with a compatible(and comparable) cam. Please keep us informed.

Quick question;would you run comparable cr and camshaft with the 906 heads,if you didn't have the Eddys to work with? I ask because I've got a pair of 906's and a pair of 452's to choose from, and may not be able to get aluminum pieces(I like the "stock" look of 440 Source units) without that money from the UK that I'm waiting for...

Al I do have 906 heads on the mild 440 in it now and I used them since I had them and I had a set of quench pad pistons to work with the 906 open chamber heads. I would have prefered to do what I am doing with this eng but money was tight so I used what I had as I figured I could at least get it in the high 11's on pump gas and be a nice driver. But it was alot of work getting quench with the open chamber heads even using the quench pad pistons as all the head chambers are not even and I really had to do alot of grinding and sizing. Now I am building what I would have built at first if I had the cash but money has been tight all my life until I got seperated. LoL ! It is so much easier to build a zero deck eng with flattop pistons and use a .039 head gasket for perfect .039 quench ! Actually I am very pleased with the performance of the 440 in the car now as it is a 10.0 comp 906 headed pump gas 440 using the MP .557 cam and the usual bolt on's such as headers , SD intake and 850 DP carb. I was just hoping to get in the high 11's so mid 11's was very rewarding for me. So now I will build a 500 inch or close eng and use a flattop piston at zero deck. Closed chamber aluminum heads and perfect quench so I can run 11.0 to 11.2 comp and run fine on pump gas with the right cam. I had some idea's on the cam I like but I am going to use a custom grind cam so I can get the best performance I can using pump gas. I plan to use a very aggresive cam for max power on pump gas. I have talked to Dwayne Porter who owns his own head service and used to post on Moparts and he is really a sharp guy so I plan to have him grind me a cam. We decided I can get away with a very good size cam since I will need to bleed some cyl press anyway as I need to keep cyl press under 200 psi to run pump. I want to get the most I can out of this eng and I dont believe any self cam will do as good a job as what he can spec out.

As for the eng in the car it already has a new home. My buddies black 65 Coronet will be getting the 440 from my 63. He has a 383 in it now that has run mid to high 12's. But he has talked to me about building him a 440 to run around 11.50's as he does not want to put a rollbar in it. He is my best friend so I told him I would give him the eng if he just buys me a few things as I dont want to take the aluminum waterpump and housing off it so he will buy me new ones. And the crank balancer is only about a year old and its an SFI aproved one so he will buy me one. And a few other small parts I will leave on the eng and he will just buy me new ones. I told him he can have it if he just takes care of that and of course he wants to pay me alot more money but I wont take it as thats the kind of friends we are. We do things for each other and never charge each other. He has 4.10's in his Coronet and the same 9.5 Dynamic converter I use so it should run mid 11's in his car like it does in mine which is perfect for him. Thanks for all the kind replies. Ron
