"Please S T O P saying this" thread.

:elmer: Duel exhaust :elmer:
It's DUAL exhaust:mob:

My breaks don't work or some such comment.
BRAKES dammit:mob:

While we are at this-- "What is up with" the word "Chromoly" (for example):poke: I'm sure you know all about the misuse of that.
Another that comes to mind is the word/term -Crager mags-. The name "Crager" was misused for many years to describe a look or style.
Out language is a soup from the past blended into the soup of the present.
Chromoly is a steel alloy.
It’s a combination of chromium and molybdenum.
Also, it’s “Cragar”, not “Crager”

Survivor or Barn Find.

Yesterday, for real, I saw a car advertised as a "Survivor Barn Find"

Using that term/phrase -out of the gate-- is NOT a way to a free pass for anything that follows.
But it does cleverly fit with the topic as an example.:drinks:

You caught the irony. Kinda like when someone starts a sentence with "to be totally honest" or "with all due respect".

When someone starts out with
"No disrespect but..." someone is being disrespected and should reply with a dick punch

No offense to anyone, but unless we have fought together, bled together or have the same mother/father please don't call me "Brother". That term is reserved for a very few true Brothers in my life.
I started work with a different Construction company December 6th. Prior to that, I was with the same company for the most part for over 30 years.
This new company....Several of the guys use the brother reference, a LOT.
Can I use the Sawzall?
Sure.
Oh, thanks a lot, brother !
I know that it is a term of friendship, acceptance and camaraderie there so I just go along.

Yes, I did.--I am an optimist "out of the gate":)

I have been stung enough times to know about being stung. BTW I am not letting go of the topic in the way I respond. I am not here to trash responders as many times may happen. I am playing with the topic as I am moved to because of my nature. I laugh at myself before I post stuff.--(at least I try).

Know when to wink first. --If that wink is taken as a confrontation the story changes.
In all my years of dealing with people, the greatest hurdle is how to do that.
In a work situation, the job is key and basically simple. Pulling it off with conflicting personalities has been my greatest task as a supervisor for 30 plus years.

It's both pretentious and disingenuous.

Well, the Carpenters Union is often referred to as the Union Brotherhood and in their newsletters, bylaws and other associated literature, they refer to fellow members as Union Brothers and Sisters.
To me, it feels like hanging out with dudes from the Sons of Anarchy.

I read a post from a guy that said his buddy was "Whipping shitties" in his car.
Whipping shitties??? WTF ??
Again, since I read and think of things so literally, why would anyone assault feces?
Apparently, this strange sounding phrase refers to what others call "Do-nuts" or spinning the rear tires while spinning the car in circles.

We used that term regularly back in MN. Some guys did that a lot in the snowy parking lots. Don’t think I ever actually whipped any but used the term for those that did. Would still call them that..... lol

????

Every phrase has some "legitimate origin", right?
Spinning do-nuts makes sense to me because do-nuts are often round and the car goes in a circle.
Whipping shitties though....
Okay, the term "whipping" I can see. Whipping the wheel back and forth makes sense but why call it a shitty ??

I really don’t know..... Maybe because you **** your pants when you do,them. We also said “whip a **** hook” as a term for doing a quick u- turn. Go figure. I don’t know where this stuff comes from. Just grew up with it.....

"Pulling gear" comes to mind. In ref. To fast shifting a manual trans. Doing that in our old school cars did require pulling force to do it fast.

Went to a funeral of a young mother of two, who died in a freak car accident. My friend ( her husband) was following her in his other car, and saw her get thrown from the pickup and it rolled over her. He was very distraught at the funeral . I go to him and say " Scott, how are you doing?" I felt terrible for saying something that thoughtless............MO
