"Please S T O P saying this" thread.

“Learn to use the search function”….,
While in theory this is excellent advice, sometimes the search function fails to provide any help. Numerous times I have tried looking for old threads of mine using most if not all the same words and titles and the search reveals no matches.
I don’t know much about the nuts and bolts of how a website works but I do wish this one had a better search program.
Often times I have typed in the exact title of a thread and got nothing.
Surely other members have dealt with the same situation.

Low hanging fruit

Just your opinion though?
YES......Just an an approximation of 12, 298 times those subjects were previously discussed/asked and only one for the torque required for the right rear tire's valve stem cap for the folks that are **** retentive and love to know Minutia.......

How about the same questions/comments deal with:
1. Best oil
2. Best spark plugs
3. Vacuum advance...manifold or ported source
4. Best carb
5. Speaking in entire words not initials or abbreviated words not "dizzy or eddy or va" to receive intelligent responses ask intelligent questions
6. Pick a cam shaft for my stroked 800 cubic in engine for street use
7. Ignition system components, their failure rate; changing to indiscriminate component substitution in search of "blazing horsepower increases"
8. How much ignition advance is best
9. AV Fuel vs pump gas
10. Learn how to use the FBBO SEARCH FUNCTION rather than asking the same/already answered questions over 100x times

just more censorship, to stop people from saying 'stupid ****'

socialism 1st rule
they control the language, then your speech
then who, how, when, where & what you can or should say...
Drilled into me in my days as a corporate mouth piece, controlling the narrative to get the desired results.

So, after more than 55 pages of everything we don't ever want to hear (read) again, what exactly is left? If this is not a "Thread", then what is it? Just saying.

Low hanging fruit

My gripe stems from two things: Redundant phrases and phrases that were popular for a short time yet keep hanging around after their expiration date.
Some words and phrases seem timeless....
Cool. That dude is cool.
Hot. That woman is HOT.
Bad. He thinks his car is BAD but it only turns 14s.

Then there are misuses of words that can be annoying. When people add the word *** to a description, it sounds stupid to me.
I'm a grown *** man.
Only your *** is grown? Maybe you're a grown man that likes asses?
Dumb ***. Smart ***.
That is a slow *** car.... Now break that last one down to the basics, it will make the word *** completely out of place.
The car could be faster if not for the slow *** that is in it.

Five decades ago, I actually was an English major. Main thrust of the education was eliminating “junk” words and phrases with the goal of creating clear and concise written communication. “Corporate Speak” is the polar opposite, creates a fog, and tends to imbed itself in the mainstream.

Sometimes it is fun to tweak a word a little to suit your personality.
However.....
That dude that is on Roadworthy Rescues takes that to the extreme and keeps doing it way too long.
Sparkolaters?
Fuel-make-it-happener?

I chuckle when he comes up with that stuff.

I chuckle when he comes up with that stuff.
Me too, he's funny & is a "great host to boot", "knows his stuff"
He's "not a whiner", "he gets stuff (s-it) done", even while entertaining the crowd
with his word salads
More words & more communication the better...

there's a couple more phrases you can hate or "not say now too"

ok, time to put down the coffee and open the whiskey bottle, at 0730 hrs on this Tuesday am!!!! My head hurts after reading this "THREAD"!!!!

:lol::BangHead:

This ‘thread’ entertaining. How’s this? It’s cause for pause, meaning that some lingo brought up makes me rethink some of the words and phrases I have a habit of using. They do get ripe from age. And an opportunity for some venting.

If anyone remembers the word swell being used, you’re older than I am, “Hey, that’s just swell”, or “He’s a swell guy”.

Reading numerous articles on cars, the writers can’t resist using “Power is sent to the rear wheels…”. Seems as though they could be paid by the word. It’s like fingernails on a chalkboard; some may not remember those. Didn’t like having to write on a chalkboard, the dry-dragging and squeaking of the chalk…especially when the teacher made me write ‘I will not say’ something 100-times on the board as punishment. After writing the 10th line, thought just smack me with your ruler and be done with this.

Thanks for this Bob. Could you please answer numbers 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 9?

Some people can’t write as well as others do. Spell check could be used; maybe some are not aware of it or won’t take the time. We see ‘to’ when ‘too’ should be used or there when ‘their’ should be used. Some like to add a little humor or added zing. I do it to express some friendly overtones. I’m guilty of using LOL too often, though as a means of not coming across too serious. Okay, rarely laughing out loud. Maybe I could use COL – chuckle out loud...is closer. Then I might get questions about it. What’s COL, are you crying out loud? LOL (Oops there I did it again.)

Written communication has disadvantages over verbal, notably causing anger when it’s not intended.
JMO, not thinking I’m drafting a resume when making a post.

I tend to get better results with a Google search that typically provides answers from this forum.

"stupid ****" has no party affiliation and IMO, saying it does is "stupid ****"
"stupid ****" when under placed under scrutiny usually is unsupportable, so here is a chance to make your case, without any control.
