I've notice the coolant gradually disappears from the radiator after drivng for several hours .
When parked there is never any signs of leakage on the floor .
At this point, I'm thinking the seal on the water pump is leaking once the engine warms up .
It the water pump from a 318 polyhead the same as the later LA 318 ?
I really don't trust any autopart internet listing to know the differance .
Thanks Timm

Poly pump is different, poly outputs the hose on the drivers side, LA on the passenger, Poly is cast iron and has a mount for a power steering pump, LA doesn't.... also.. check your radiator cap and it's PSI rating.. you could just be pissing steam out the overflow..

Hey ,that was quick for a response . I don't see coolant anywhere in the engine comparment . I'm thinking that perhaps I should replace the radiator cap as well .
I'm not sure where my pressure tester is anymore .. It's been a while since I've had to use one...

well.. a cap is super cheap... also check your oil (pull the dipstick and make sure it looks like oil, not chocolate milkshake)

also if your waterpump seal was leaking you would know it, you would have a line down the pump behind the pulley.. my 2018 grand cherokee has a orange line right now.. it's not bad enough foe me to fix it yet though :)

So on my poly, it had a small hole on the left side of the aluminum front cover that was leaking. After cleaning the corrosion off, I had a big hole (1/2”). I used some carbon fiber screen and JB weld to do a quick fix. Been holding for a couple years now. Apparently the late style cover will work if you plug extra hole on left side of poly. I’m assuming a late water pump could be adapted then too. Guess someday it will get TIG welded if it doesn’t hold until this gets dropped in:
