My 70 RR was an atypical barn find. Saw in in a free auto trader in one of the PA turnpike rest stops back in 1991 on way home from Carlisle swap meet where I saw nothing but overpriced scrap. Called when I got home (no cell then), guy says body is pristine from CA but car doesn't run. Got my interest up so head on back to take a look, 200 miles. The car is in this ancient dairy barn where they stored the milk trucks, has a really filthy car cover that's covered in rat poop. Barn is dirt floor & all around are horse drawn farm implements & those old wooden car wheels that went out of style in the '20s. Thought this was going to be a big waste of time. Pulled back the cover & was totally shocked, one of the most fabulous rust-free bodies I'd ever seen. Spent an hour combing over every inch & all numbers matching, had one repaint in the '80s. Run problem was just a bad coil although I did pull & go through motor later for my own satisfaction. Had to have it, offered $1k less than asking, he says OK. Had it ever since, it's as sweet an old mope as you'll ever find, drives smooth & strong with no rattles, by the way it's a V-code, 4-speed, super trac-pack with GTX buckets, & vit-C. Here it is end of last year, exactly as I found it in '91.
