Okay, some updates. I called the seller and he is still saying 'that car is worth 35 and you know that is fair'. If I am to get the car under 35, it looks like I will have to bid on eBay. My wife says to just place a 29,999 bid on eBay and walk away.
I refuse to buy any car unless I can drive it first. I've told the seller this multiple times. The car is in his back yard, and three 'Cudas plus a LARGE fifth wheel camper need to be moved before the Charger can get to the driveway. He needs to 'borrow a truck' to pull the fifth wheel out, then push, or tow the 'Cudas. This was supposed to happen this morning, but I just did a quick drive by and nothing has moved.
So, still in a holding pattern.
Not to high jack my own thread, but I'm in Wyoming next week. My friend up there found this car last month:
https://wyoming.craigslist.org/cto/5671508192.html
My friend drove it and checked it out. He says some small bubbling along the rockers, trunk has mild scale but no rot, and the 440 V8 is a sweet monster that is perfect. Needs exhaust work, and the dash wiring looks like a three year went crazy under there. Gauges out, and various electrical issues. For me to be happy, I'd have to do a Wilwood front disc, Classic Air, and convert BACK to power steering (seller said he could never get the steering box adjusted it just turned to the right all the time, so he converted to manual steering).
This car was $18,000 three months ago, $16,400 now. If I like it and can't find too much bondo, I might offer $12,000, maybe $14,000, but then have $1900 in shipping to Tucson.
I REALLY WANT THIS CHARGER R/T, but unfortunately anything over 29 would break the bank. My budget would be blown and the car would probably sit in the garage 5 years before I had funds to get it roadworthy.
Keep the opinions going. I'll update you tomorrow if there is any news.
Take care, Bill
