I'm starting to notice a trend, people are being absolute pricks for no reason!

A few weeks ago I was doing an aftermarket stereo install in my boys 2014 Charger and called a local audio shop to purchase a stereo plug/pigtail. He asks for the make, model and year then tells me I need this complete $500 install kit? I reminded him that I only asked for the pigtail and started to explain what I was doing.. he stays "good luck with that". That's it, end of conversation?

Today I call Hughes engines, I'm considering some upgrades to the daughters 5.9 magnum and they seem to be a good source for both parts and info. I introduced myself and said I'm putting a 5.9 magnum in a 1972 Satellite.. and was immediately cut off "I don't care about the car, what motor are we talking about" WTF? So I say 2000 5.9 magnum.... "O.K. I need you to read this article, decide what your goals are then call me back".. O.K? I read the article, it's explaining the ECU! I call back, told him my goal so he now tells me to go through their dyno results and find one that matches my goals to which I say " I already did and there isn't one".

If he would have shut up for 1 minute at the start of the first call he would have gotten everything he needed but could not restrain himself from being an obnoxious prick. I'm out, first impressions are everything.

They are everywhere and at every turn, it now seems. So glad that I no longer have to engage with those types for my automotive needs as I am just maintaining my daily rides and at this point not doing any upgrades or swaps...:usflag::usflag::usflag:

On the stereo, try Crutchfield, Radio Shack, Bestbuy or even another stereo place for pieces. On the cam, thats messed up. Getting a beat down because you want to spend money with a known specialist.

LMAO a few weeks ago I told off an A-hole who works for the place I bought my wood stove insert from after listening to him talk down to me when needing some service and a part. Well after he finished his rant I told him he needed to find a job he enjoyed because being a miserable asshole to PAYING customers is not a good thing for the company. I then talked to his boss, he apologized for his actions and they not only swept my chimney for free they came back and replaced the one blower fan for free too. Only had to pay for the fan.... It eventually works out for the customer with GOOD companies but is frustrating while dealing with the ignorant ones..

People wanna be rude and act like smartasses until you’re standing in front of them

Like my Wife walking into our local Dodge dealer to drop 55 grand and nobody would give her the time of day, other than one guy that finally asked her what she wanted after 20 minutes that wouldn't take her seriously when she wanted to order her Challenger AWD fresh off the assembly line.

She went 40 minutes East to another dealer, was dealt with professionally there and got the first car off the line for Canada on St. Patrick's Day 2017. She drove it straight to the Midland dealer, drove up to their front window and honked the horn. The guy that wouldn't do her order came out, she put down the passenger window and told him to kiss her ***!

I was at the lgs the other day, looking at a pistol that was optics ready (slot for a red dot. ) They make them with and without, I wanted it with and the one in the case had it. Unfortunately the one in the case also had a large cosmetic flaw in the polymer frame.

I asked the clerk how many mags it came with. He doesn’t know, Doesn’t bother to check. I told him I wanted to see if he had one without the flaw, and if it has 2 mags I’ll take it.

He goes in back and brings one out. It looked good and had 2 mags so I told him I wanted it, then noticed it wasn’t optics ready. I told him I wanted one that was. He said the one I looked at wasn’t.

Now this prick is getting under my skin, especially since my wife is standing there with me. I kept my cool though and told him the one I looked at did and he should walk down and look, which he did. After he saw I was right he shaped up a little, but not much.

What difference did it make? Why not just get me the one I wanted?

Perfect example of why I hate gun stores.

At one time Walmart had installation kits.
The Charger is an incredible weird deal and yes I first went to Crutchfield and others. The factory stereo has wiring routed through it that ties into the heater, vehicle info screen, etc. The installation kit for it includes new heater controls plus a harness but mounts the screen down in front of the shifter which I wasn't digging.

I think it's kind of a phone thing. Years ago people had to talk to people in person mostly so they developed some social skills. Over the last 20 years people have resorted to texting and ordering junk online and have forgotten that if you're rude you'll likely suffer a shot in the face and a kick in the crotch. I try to treat people well but that can turn into being a prick myself if they go their first, I'm old and just don't tolerate being treated poorly.

Love it, good for her!

A friend of mine went to one of the Dodge stores in his city to order a new Challenger. During the purchase process, he found he needed some additional information/paperwork that he had left in his office. When he returned, he pulled up and parked in front of the showroom window, knowing that he was only going to be there momentarily to drop off the needed information. A salesman immediately came out to tell him he could not park there. My friend tried to explain the situation, but this jerk would have no part of it. He said to move his f@@king car right now!
My friend obliged by climbing back into his car and moving it to another Dodge dealer, and buying his new Challenger there. He called the salesman at the first dealership that he had been working with, from there, to cancel his purchase, and told him one of sales buddies had cost him the deal. A few days later, when he returned to the second dealership to pick up his new Challenger, he parked outside the showroom window. His salesman came out and said he could not park there! When he looked up, the entire showroom staff was on the other side of the window, laughing. Bad news travels fast.

If you talked to the owner of Hughes Engines, apparently, THAT is how he is. Everyone that I know that has dealt with him says the same thing. The man is not a friendly person, he doesn't care for chit-chat. He is smart and knows his stuff but is not pleasant to deal with.
There is a thread at FABO where a member complained about this same guy....the member ordered some parts that had a long delay for delivery and when the parts were ready, the price was way higher. Instead of gently explaining that he was unable to meet the previous price, Hughes was his usual self and said the man would need to send more money or just accept a refund of what he had already paid.
I defended Hughes only based on the fact that vendors are often caught in the middle and that he did nothing illegal.... as well as the opinion that NO business should have to absorb the increased costs.
Hughes....maybe he is dealing with something we don't know about OR he just really is an unpleasant person to deal with.

I think the issue is, that people nowadays have not had to deal with folks through spoken conversation, either in person or on the phone. I've got people here at work, when I ask them to call a vender to repair on of our units, it is unbelievable how they talk! They stutter, cant make a full sentence, its weird for me to listen to. I'm guessing they have never had to develop any people skills.

I've been trained in the art of the deal and enjoy it immensely. I can tell a skippy the punk before I walk up on him. The way they look, stand or look at you. If they even start, I will always state that I'm not in the F**king mood to deal with mindless play. That usually catches them off guard and two things happen. One, he talks back to me in a condescending way, in which case I ask him if he's interested in making money or looking for a new job. Or he laughs and says, what can I do for you. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. I can get along with a fence post and will always start out polite, till I'm not. At the end of the day, our money's green anywhere.
