Pricks!

Dave Hughes can be a real prick. He has zero customer service skills. Very surprising since it's his business.
If you get a hold of Tom its a better experience.
I need to amend my post, it was a bit harsh. It's more accurate to describe him as "curt". I've talked to Dave several times over the years, including today, and he's definitely not a chit-chatter. And he doesn't suffer fools gladly, so you need to have a good idea of what you want before calling. Don't just say that you want a stroker kit, have the part number handy so he can look it up.
And for sure, don't call up asking for 'a cam that will make 500 hp'. That conversation will go south real quick.

Talked to Dave today and he was cordial and even said 'thanks for calling' before hanging up.
I'll double-down on Tom. Ordered my stroker kit with him today and he's pleasant to deal with.

Pulled this directly from the Hughes website:
Phone etiquette: I do not want to know how much you love your car, what color it is, how long you have owned it, who owned it, etc. Just the facts: weight with driver, engine size, goal, budget, etc.

I have sold cars and parts online and through ads in the newspaper.
There are dudes that call with no intention of buying. They are browsers, they just like to talk about car stuff.
The main problem with that is that it can be hard to know what kind of guy you're speaking with....the buyer or the browser.
I had some jerkoff call from G U A M in the early 2000s.
I had a 73 Challenger that I painted and swapped in a 440. It looked decent and ran strong. I was asking what I thought was a fair price, the car was listed on Craigslist. I wasn't as familiar with ebay and car forums back then. The G U A M guy would call every few days and start talking about the Challenger, then drift off to talk about other car stuff. I didn't want to be RUDE and cut him off because I really wanted to sell that car and I wasn't getting much interest from other people. That assclown raped my ear. No, he didn't buy the car.
I learned from that dude that you need to set some boundaries with people.
Dave Hughes must have dealt with this guy from G U A M or someone like him. Too many dudes get to talking with another car guy and they blab on and on and on. SCREW that. I already have friends to talk cars with. If I have something listed for sale, I'm not shopping for new friends, I'm looking to sell something to get the money.

I'm selling a highly modified sled and this guy contacts me and is making stupid offers 50% ,telling me what great sleds he has and how he's not paying what I'm asking. then a day later he asks if it's a 2 stroke or 4 stroke ,you realize your talking to a lip flapper who just wants to talk to someone!

I sold houses and cars, if I had too. Everything else, I gave away. I don't deal with stupid.

Who needs that fancy kit?
