Good morning all you B body well wishers...:moparsmiley:

I have dug around in B bodies forum searching for a supplier to buy a new proportioning valve switch (see pictures).

My 67 Dodge coronet retains its original duel Proportioning valve that is very clean inside & out.

I do not anticipate a total rebuild on the valve its self due to it being so clean inside other than a O-ring.

I think my proportioning valve switch is faulty having never been under pressure by myself.....

but because the top electrical switch screw rotates freely both externally outside and internally at the bottom.

I believe this will be a leak source if not replaced now while I have the braking system being restored while it is easy to do.

Possibly a good used one if new one is unavailable.

Any input would be very helpful....:)

I need 1 of those switches also. Pirate Jack's was supposed to have some in stock mid August. I've tried calling and emailing them several times recently, but gotten no response from them.

The new one that was in the proportioning valve I got from Fine Lines was junk. I swapped it out with the original switch that was in my drum brake divider block. It has been in there working fine for 4 years now. If you can get one from a junk yard it will more than likely be better than a new one. Especially the aftermarket junkers.

That is not a proportioning valve it is a distribution block.
That switch operates the brake warning light on the dash if your brake system front/rear looses pressure on one side.

I just bought one on eBay.......... Thanks Fran for the tip...........:luvplace:

Th-yanks everyone for helping....

I know that.....In post 1 the question was about the switch. His is bad and leaking. My point was the switch is the same one used on the distribution block as in the proportioning valve.

How does it proportion then?
If your car has drums front and rear that is not a proportioning valve - but you can call it what ever you want.

1967 Coronet was the first year they had duel master cylinder + a duel master cylinder proportion valve. I know that for sure....... The master cylinder proportion valve has never been off

Call it what you want 2 sir..... Thanks for your input :>)

Was that switch cleaned in solvent? it looks like the rubber and O-rings are eaten up?

I've never had to replace that switch before, mine was still good on my 72. Couldn't it just be rebuilt with new O-rings and that rubber in the middle? I mean if they are charging a lot for a new one.
I'm a cheapskate so I'm just thinking out loud.

As stated that is the distribution block. No proportioning at all. Just 2 plungers and springs. If pressure goes low on one side (front or rear) the high side plunger is pushed to the low side and touches the warning switch and grounds it. Light on.

The proportioning valve is only used on the front disc cars, and it is attached after that distribution block. It regulates pressure to the rear drums.

By an o ring kit. Cleaning it all up install new o-rings and use it.

I again say wrong........

"Goggle" 1967 coronet Proportional or Proportioning valve and see what it sez and on eBay or what ever your source is.

The proportioning valve is for both disc and drum brakes 67 and up..... look it up

Also..... when you say by do you really mean buy?
