my 67 rt had some blow by after sitting 40 yrs in a car port before I bought it . ran it around a bit after getting it running it didnt seem to clear up and I wanted to paint engine anyway so I took it out will tear down this week to freshen up wont be doing anything major unless it needed. as far as I can tell the 36785 on the speedo seems to be true will try to post pics asap. man I love working on these cars they are so easy comp to newer stuff

"Freshin up" lol. Famous last words!! Good luck& let us know.

Yea sure. I agree. I'm in the middle of a Freshin Up right now..... Why is mine completely torn apart now.
lol freshen up to me is tearing apart cleaning, checking for any cracks, milling surfaces if needed, honing cylinders, rings, bearings, valve job
been doing mopar big blocks since I was a kid we always called rebuilding when we bored and built up the engines with cams and pistons ect guess its just the words we used lol. but their is the unseen at this point only got as far as pulling valve covers eveyrthing looked so clean I was very happy so far. other than oil from the valve covers leaking this old girls turquoise paint isnt to bad

Looks can be deceiving......my current build looked clean as well until the machine shop said the crank had too much play, hence thrust issue and was slapping the caps.

Sounds like your moving on the right path as I did:thumbsup:

How bout some pics!

Hi, are you running an automatic tranny?Had the same problem with a Blown 440 years ago. was told it was the torque converter pushing the crank forward. It whore the thrust bearing.Had a anti ballooning plate install in the converter and problem solved

Hey there Mopower, My issue was a prior machine shop not knowing what they were doing. However, that was done prior to me acquiring the car and the car was manual. I have heard of your situation in relation to the TQ also.

did a lite cleaning of the heads still very happy with the condition taking heads n block to machine shop this week to be cleaned and checked and ill start prepping engine bay for paint trying to have done so I can reinstall engine over holidays wish the days were longer that would help

ok a question on heat riser valves prob asked many times planning on removing these cars dont get run in very cold weather they just sit in my warm garage taking a long winters nap and this one fell apart didnt think rebuilding was worth it would like to hear from folks that took em out had them on my other coronets and they were working but charger and gtx had headers
thanks Dave
another question does anyone own a white car with copper interior or find a pic of one, thats the colors of this one but it did have a crappy repaint in brown. I havent been able to find a pic of that color combo I think it will be a nice look when done
