Push button 727, no gear engagement ?

My 62 plymouth PB 727 is not engaging any gears. I had VB out to fix rear pivot shaft leak. (The trans work fine before this.). I updated the valve body and added the part throttle kick down modifaction from TFlite Patty. The cable shifter is working fine and adjusted propperley. It shows above full on the stick. It acts like it not sucking up fluid ???. Thinking that the pressure valve is stuck, or the pressure adjustment is off ? I do have the correct 2 hole filter. (made that mistake once) Any ideas of what could be wrong ???
Like I said it all worked fine...fixed a leak, had VB apart...did VB modication... adjusted the cable shifter...put fluid in...no gear engagement...nothing ??????

You know the answer. You made a honest mistake somewhere in the valve body. Take it out and get the correct FSM and go over the orientation of every valve, spring, and ball.

Yeah. I would normally say broken Belleville spring at rear clutch. But if it was working O.K. before mods, I now say something wrong in V.B. Check for cracks in the channels.

I had a stuck pressure valve after a rebuild once. Wouldn't do a thing. But mine was all stock.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Line pressure screw adjustment (more pressure on the spring , turning screw tighter= less line pressure) and ( less pressure on the spring, loosening the screw=higher line pressure) right ?

Turning the adjustment screw counter clockwise (normally undoing), is actually putting more pressure on the spring, thereby increasing the line pressure. Sounds couter-intuitive, but that's the way it works.

Assuming this was done in the car that should rule out most anything except the valve body. Not that something couldn't have broke, but highly unlikely. No gears at all means no fluid feed to any of the clutches or bands. That leaves few options. The rooster comb isn't engaged in the manual valve slot. Loose screws holding the valve body together, loose valve body to case bolts (possibly caused by the accumulator piston not seated). Incorrect valve body assy.

Likely had something to do with PTK addition. Unlike later valve bodies, P.B. valve body did not have port to do this. I looked at online conversion for this, and it looked kinda complicated. Easier to just push the appropriate button. I did put a newer V.B. with PTK in my '67 R/T, however, and like it.

I think I found the problem. The front pump check valve has a flat washer hat type thing on top of the spring. The washer slipped, causing the upper half of VB not to seal to seperator plate. All valve do move freely. But the pump check valve must not have be workig...my mistake. Will see once I get all back together. fingers crossed.

Even thought the car is not in a driveable condition at this time. I happy to say I do have gear engagement. Like someone said it would be simple and an honest mistake. I feel so much better now. And can't belive I made such a dumb mistake...but happy now...will be a while before test drive

We all do it. The brain does not want you to think that you made the mistake. So you believe that you could not of done it. Most will never come back and admit the honest mistake. They will come up with some cock and bull story on something else. Makes you feel better when you find it. When you finally find the mistake you want to fire that guy. [lol]

It would be hard to replace him. He works for nothing & puts up with a lot of crap. Pluse like the say " hire the handicaped , they're fun to watch "
