If you cut most of the top off a 73 duster quarters can you use on a 73 roadrunner

You can make anything work if you have a big enough hammer and are good at cutting and shaping metal, but generally, that's a big no!

Here's a secret I recently learned-

Look at 72-80 Dodge truck front fenders.

The wheel well opening (at least the top) is exactly the same as the rear of a 73/74 Satellite/Road Runner.

Crazy.....but true.

That will get you the commonly rusted out wheel opening.

IIRC those fenders are repro'd but kind of hard to find. Look on truck specific sites.

So that would bring you to the top of the quarters? Then the bottom you could buy patches

Whoa, just did a search for both and found pics in a relatively similar orientation-

It almost looks like ALL the body lines line up!

That's C-R-A-Z-Y.

Also looks like goodmark makes the fenders.

AMD used to make the rear patch from the 12:00 o'clock mark on the arch back.

OOP IIRC. Too bad. I've been seeing a LOT of these cars coming out of the wood work lately, and a good percentage of them need quarter work.

This is what the AMD patch looked like that I used.

Ya thanks for the tip on the fenders. Also I need full quarters on my passenger side the patches wont work. Someone decided to drill a bunch of holes to pull out a dent and instead of welding in the holes they threw bondo in them

Just wondering if your looking for a rear quarter. I have both left and right. You will need the lower patches (typical rust) but the rest of the quarters are in good shape. I cut them off of a donor car and they are hanging up in my garage.
Have been thinking of posting them on ebay. But haven't decided

Thanks for the offer but I have a donor car that has the same problem as yours so if worse comes to worse Ill use those. Trying to find rotless (meaning nothing but surface rust quarters)

Good luck. Rear quartets that are rust free do not exist.
And it would be the lower rear quarter patch. They don't make the front patch any more.

It's a short cut version of the 71-72 and you still have to modify the wheel lip but it's a start.

Layson`s have a part number for them but no supplier when I talked to them a month ago, but they recommended that I buy 1972 quarters along with the 73-74 rear patch panels which you then cut and weld the patch panel in and it worked out nice. I hope that this helps. I also replace the trunk drop-offs on each side and the outer wheel housings. Good luck with your project.

71/72 and 73/74 body lines are different at the bottom.

At the rear yes, but very close at front. It doesn`t take much to make it match at the front and as for the rear, that is why you have to buy the 73-74 rear patch panel. I got it to work out alright, just putting it out there. If there is no alternative panels by aftermarket. I was only giving advice based on what worked for me.
