im looking into getting Coopers for the GTX, (cuz i have bias plys on it now--dont ask lol), but i have heard that they suck in the rain. any truth to this, fellers?

Don't know. I don't drive my car in the rain. If you're concerned about authenticity of your tires, then don't drive your Mopar in the rain and risk rusting it.

I For One Remember Those Damn Bias Ply Tires In The 1960's! My '68 Charger Had A Tendency To Try And Take Off For The Bushes If You Didn't Pay Attention! All Over The Road!

Just to be different, I'm running bias M/T sportsman fronts and 12" wide M/T ET Street Radials out back.

Has anyone mentioned the two most pronounced characteristics of handling with bias vs radial?

1- bias ply tires tend to "find" lines in the road that are parallel to the direction of travel, and "follow" them.
(like sealer lines, or grooves) this can be quite disconcerting if you're not prepared for it.

2- A bias ply will tend to lose it's grip gradually (such as in severe cornering), and you can feel the grip going away proportionately to the ammount you are taxing tire. You can actually anticipate spinning out with some degree of accuracy.

A radial, OTOH, will tend to provide almost the maximum grip until the bitter end of it's ability to grip at all, and then let go quite suddenly, and nearly completely (if not 100%). This can be quite challenging to anticipate, and recover from. Most untrained or not extremely experienced drivers tend to over correct when this occurs.
