Randy Marsh's 66 Belvedere 2

Well I'm still out here plugging along. So far I'm still very enthusiastic and enjoying my time in the shop (and that was the plan). I have my music, a decent shop, a portable heater, and the occasional beer. So far this car hasn't fought me one bit and she really seems eager to prowl the streets again. I have to pick my fights though. I really only work on it as life allows. After I put the kids to bed and BS with the wife, I get to work on it from roughly 10pm till I get tired (usually 2am). Some nights I'm more motivated than others. Honestly some nights I have big plans and fall asleep at the kitchen island waiting for my daughter to conk out.

So far the Uscartool subframe connectors are installed, new door hinges, body got gapped and referenced, and a whole list of annoying **** got fixed. I'm gonna give the Fab work a break for a bit (widening wheel wells, cage, ect). I'm not a pussy, but laying on 20 degree concrete welding upside down is taking it's toll. I'm moving on to the body so I can spray this thing when we get that freak warm week in March or April.

The body is rock solid so far, but has a shitty BC repaint on top of the factory paint. Both are CC1(light blue). I've been breaking the car down and stripping to bare metal. I sold the side trim, gas cap, ect to a fellow member and have been welding up those holes. Also welded up the antenna hole, emblem holes, fuel filler, and have been dollying out shopping cart dings.

Here's a question for you guys...what is the purpose of the drip edge caulk(besides cracking, looking awful, and trapping water)? I had a hell of a fight removing the trim as it was encased in this crap. What is it's purpose and what is recommended to replace it?

Oh, and....this site is great! I've already bought and sold parts, made friends, and burnt down the search engine.

To give something back I'll write up a separate thread on installing Uscartool subframe connectors. It seems to be very popular, and many guys seem to struggle. I gotta figure out how to format my pics ect, but I'll give guys play by play on how to do this. Thanks
