Re-routing plug wires with chrome valve covers?

Never thought i'd be drilling holes in chrome valve covers! Lol
All you need is a PCV hole a fill hole and a breather.. Not sure why you need more than 3 holes. Or in the case of my valve covers posted above I only have a breather and a PCV valve. The breather is the fill hole.

Thats what i meant, 3 holes is what i have now.....BUT, i like your idea of only 2 holes, 1 for PCV, 1 for breather & oil fill....guess that 3rd is not necessary at all!

Keep in mind, you'll want a baffle of some sort wherever you make a hole, if the valve covers do not have them built-in.. I used a Moroso baffled grommet to keep my PCV from sucking oil. It has worked pretty well. I just had to be careful where I drilled the hole, so that the grommet wouldn't interfere with the rockers as it hangs down in there a little..

One more thing.. Get all your breathers, PCV, grommets etc beforehand so that you know exactly how big to make any holes.. a good thing to do is just to buy an assortment of a lot of different ones(grommets are cheap). That way you can make things work however you have to..

Thanks!

I THINK i may go with the steel stamped chrome covers from 440 source....very reasonable

28 bucks.. Thats a good price for them I guess. Just make sure you seal them good and font over tighten them. leak city...

Valve covers are on the wrong sides. THe one with the oil fill cap should be on the driver side. The one with just a small hole and a rubber grommet should be on the passenger side with a pcv valve towards the rear. In the pictures below the valve covers are on wrong too.

Here is where to get the proper brackets https://www.yearone.com/Catalog/chr...spark-plug/spark-plug-wire-brackets-oem-style

Here is how they are ran on the driver side.

And the passenger side.

Kooshs valve covers aren't on the wrong sides. And neither are the ones in the picture you provided. Some engines had the oil fill cap on the left and others had it on the right , but it was always toward the front of the engine.

Well I stand corrected.. Only ones I have ever seen were with the PCV on the passenger side. I supposed anything is possible.

Also, if you have the air cleaner with the breather tube on the passenger side, then your pvc is on the driver side.

I'm certainly no valve cover expert. I only know what my own engines look like. From doing a Google image search, it looks like 1970 was the year that the oil fill cap and breather cap moved to the pass side and the pcv went to the drivers side.

No problemo! Just use a good cutting lube and go easy..too much speed/pressure can distort or discolor the metal (I apologize if you already knew that)

Yes It seems they swapped 70 up I guess I was always googling 69 or older.
