Running through the local Cl and ran across a local consignment shops ad for a 70 vert air grabber, Hemi, Auto It decodes as a 383 4bbl not a bad car at all in its original form, but they swapped in a hemi deleted some stuff like the fender turn sigs, put an air grabber on it with a few other up grades and that makes it $120k?? I'm cornfused here in its original form it is 1 of 429 made and dated 10/29/69 probably even close to an early number maybe even top 50? who knows? but now they have done all these changes / upgrades and want superbird prices? What am I missing here? They have a B5 one for $75k unchanged I think. some OE package , Does the seller really think they will get that for this?

thats a very deceptive ad.....
nowheres does the cl ad say its an original 383 car..
and i seriously doubt that car has 1000 Original miles on it too.

that being said, the car has been restofied quite nicely.....
price is in space atm, thanks for sharing this.

Crazy money. I'm not a fan of the 70 verts, but the stance of this car is right. It is restomod lite which will appeal to some at the top of the market, but I think they overshot by about 50k.

I didnt know they built B's in Newark, thought all of the 70's came from Lynch Road, St Louis, or LA.

"..........A electronically operated Air Grabber hood,........."

Apart from the crappy use of the English language...I want to see how that one works. :poke:

Slightly OT: Is it just me, or did Chrysler use the 1966-67 A-pillar, windshield frame, and convertible top mechanism on the refreshed '68-70 models?

Nothing against anyone who owns one, but it would explain why the roofline looks the way it does. Looks like someone at Chrysler wasn't willing to build the front windshields a bit lower (like the 2-door hardtop and coupes), even though the C-pillar became shallower because of the coke bottle beltline on the quarter panel. The result looks like a convertible conversion on a 4-door.

As for the crack pipe price here: It's crazy. It's also how most dealers make their money. Overstate a car, insinuate false claims by omission or careful wording, and overpricing so that the first sucker who can't live without "THAT one" at any price purchases it. Then it gets put on the market 5 months later after Mr. Sucker gets bored with it, and it'll sell for a loss - if and when Mr. Sucker drops his price enough that Mr. Sucker 2 is interested.

Because of the taller windshield and the downward angle of the top, 66-70 convertible B-bodies definitely look odd with the top up.

It could have been worse - :xscuseless:

:realcrazy: looked at it and don't think much of it and it is not worth the money

Do they really angle downward more than the '66-67s, or is it a visual effect caused by the raised quarter panel on the '68-70s?

A convertible B body windshield is about an inch or two taller that a hard top B body.

Understandable, as the windshield frame needs to extend to a flat windshield crossmember with a single bright stainless cover, rather than the curved steel transition to the roof with an edge moulding.
