Rear Drum Brakes

Mr4speed ... I'll tell you what ... if I can tweak these drums off without killing them you can have them for the price of shipping ... let me know ...

That method I described really does work, but again, use it only in a pinch or as a last resort! I went over to a buddy's house for the sole purpose of removing the rear drums on his 59 Plymouth Savoy for him as I had a puller...and sure enough I forgot it at home. I did exactly as I described above and it sure as heck worked like a champ. I heard that tip from an old timer at a car show and was rather skeptical...until I tried it. Good luck!! Be sure to take some pictures of the brakes before you start tearing into them...just incase you forget where all the springs and levers go (and because I am curious to see what it looks like in there!), and be sure you match the leading shoe and trailing shoe up with the old ones before installing.

Well I have avoided the rear brakes until now ... I realised after all the wonderful input ... that to get motivated in this endeavour I would need a lot of sour mash, a speedo bathing suit and vice grips on my bells while doing a pogo dance ... all in order to defer the pain of the brake job ... I will wait ... until I have all the necessary tools together ... Lol!
