Rear end lubricant

I'm putting a new (rebuilt) center section in my 69 Charger. The is an 8 3/4 Sure-Grip. 3:23, 489 case. What lubricant should I use; 90 weight, synthetic or what else? I know full well that I have to use a Friction-Modifier additive to
whatever I use.

Dinosaur 80W90 gear oil + the stinky stuff.

O'Reilly's has that exact bottle that @dadsbee posted for $12.
 
Maybe I posted the wrong stuff. Was it supposed to be this stuff.

I hear if you use this stuff you can park a Cadillac in a dog house.
 
Cass aka Dr.Diff recommends SuperTech gear oil from Wally World along with a bottle of Ford friction modifier. That has always worked for me.

Quick question. Do I need the Friction Modifier if mine is NOT a sure grip? I haven't opened it up yet, so I'm not sure, but it's on the to do list (reading / bookmarking anything relevant).

You don't need friction modifier if it is a one wheel peel.

Thank you. Once I open it up this winter (down the list on rebuilds) I'll see what I have and decide on modifying it.

Is it possible/"relatively easy" to add Sure-Grip or other mods without changing the 8 3/4 axle housing?
 
Just jack the car up and rotate a wheel. Open gears the other wheel will turn the opposite way. Sure grip they'll both turn the same way.

WHY NOT JUST USE WHAT THE FSM (FactoryService Manual) outlines and recommends for your YEAR and application? Do you have the FSM or Owners Manual? Just make sure you have the tire valve stem caps torqued to the proper setting in inch/ ozs.....just a thought......
