rear leaf question

Here is the before picture. Note the height of the quarter to the rear wheel.

With the new springs, I was also able to get the front end a bit higher

It was actually a pretty easy job to switch them out. Do one side at a time so everything stays where it belongs. Hardest part was getting the front eyebolt lose due to paint and rust, I bought new front brackets instead and gave up on the old.

So except for the parts that I ended up ordering for the front, it took less than a day to do the whole job. Only part that came off the car except the springs and hardware were the tires!

a bigger rear tire :headbang:

Hey Dennis, is this the same car that you posted a video of doing the burnouts? Awesome burnouts and funny as hell. Your car? You driving?

That was some irresponsible teenager at the Laguna Seca Parking Lot

I used shackles to raise my back a bit. I bought ones from Mr Gasket that are heavy duty and come with 4 holes so you can adjust the height some. They work good and what I did is when I decided on the hole to use I cut the rest of the shackle off and rounded the bottom. Then painted them black so they look stock. I had to trim them to stock size as I hate to see cars with 6 inches of shackle hanging down below where the spring and shackle bolt up. Ron

SHACKLES.......( i know ..i know)....39 buxx....ebay....half hour install... got em on both my mopars... NO ISSUES.... if you like the 70's look....shackles are for you!

You can spend a TON of money and countless hours with aftermarket springs, HD springs, SS springs, etc.

I have to agree with TopDog..... shackles. There is nothing wrong with adding extended shackles! They will not alter your suspension geometry and they get the job done.

IMO shackles got a bad name from the 70's/80's when people (like me) ran 4" extended shackles & air shocks at 150-200 psi put the rear end a foot higher & most of the rear end weight supported on the air shocks, not the springs. THAT will make the rear end a little squirrely in corners..... but moving up the rear end height only 1" with just shackles..... no problem at all.

Just my 2-cents.

does look fine to me

That is one bad *** car and the height looks perfect in the back. Just a personal thing but maybe lower the front a tad (curb height) and it will give you the look that you want. Otherwise, the car looks perfect to me...!!!!

I want to get the car sitting a little higher in the back. Not sure what spinrgs are in there now. attached is a profile of the car..looks a little low in the rear.........Any suggestions?? I was looking at the Mopar performance heavy duty springs made for 440/6 and Hemis.....

I see you live in NY..

I brought my springs to Perth amboy spring works in NJ 732-442-4420 and told them to add a leaf to meet my height requirements - they hit it right on. It was about 50 bucks if you bring them the leaf springs off the car. Re arching does not always work, they sometimes resag.
I was looking for higher than stock height on my 73 rr
Ralph

I will look into that..thanks

sweet ride!looks good like it is to me.my 69 sits just like yours.i kinda like the high aggressive front.

Just a thought here but what about the front spring hangers with multiple holes. Using the lowest hole will raise the body an inch or two. If you dont like it you can go in the stock hole setting. Cheaper than springs too.
