For those that are curious about the differences of the buckets I mounted my new ones today and took a photo of the difference, the early bucket is on the left.

Here are pics of a pair I bought a few or more years back. They are in very good condition (except one crack) except for the mounting nubs on the back. Look closely and you'll see that each nub has three segments. On the one of mine that has still the nubs, one of the three segments is missing from each nub. I think we may be on to the reason they abandoned this design. I bet very few could be removed with the nubs completely intact. Part Stalker's pics show one nub fully intact. I think that's a rarety.

I found my originals today. Interestingly, they have the nubs completely in tact. I have my car home now and tested what I have. The nice one in post #22 that's missing just one segment of each nub will not stay mounted. The third segment must be present. I confirmed this with the one complete original I have. It snaps into place and stays put. So any that don't have the full nubs present won't mount to the housings. I wonder if I could somehow graft the good nubs from the bad lenses onto the good lenses. I suppose with careful surgery and the right kind of adhesive, it just might work. I'll report back if I try it.
