I have a 67 R/T Tribute convertible. I would like to figure a way to add rear speakers. Previous owner had cut 6x9s into the convertible interior rear side panels (as you know - these side panels are like hens teeth). I found a really nice uncut set of side panels and do NOT want to cut them up for speakers. What have other convertible B-Body owners done for tunes?
Thank you

Put the top down and listen to the wind and exhaust is the easiest and cheapest

Coolest!

There used to be a set from Pioneer and I’m sure other brands had some angle mounted surface mount speakers in their on enclosure. I put mine underneath the front bench and at times and buckets see cars facing back to the passengers seem to work for me, but maybe you don’t wanna go that route

Replaced the rear panels in my vert and same thing, not going to cut them. I couldn't hear the rear speakers when they were in the old panels. I made speaker boxes I can slide out from the front seats when I want tunes, but anything to the back of me seems worthless in the vert unless having one hell of a sound system, being an option to do. Put a Hermosa stereo in and no inclination to add the more powerful stuff, just me. Supposed to be a decent system, but the two extra speakers I wired in (6”) are worthless unless I keep them in the front. Exhaust system (Hemi mufflers now) isn't all that loud either compared to the Flowmaster 50's I had before.

I bought two more speakers the same size as the dash, built boxes to hold them that fit between the rear seats and side panel on each side. That and a sub in the trunk. Not award winning audio but it’s a cheap option and sounds good and loud. Mine’s a charger but I’d guess it’s the same. If not…this is not the post you’re looking for.

With enough amp, some big speakers might blast thru the seat back?

When I bought my convertible, I was looking for the same solution. For now I use a JBL bluetooth speaker. Throw it on the back seat, or between the front buckets. Sounds pretty good, and got it at costco for a little over 100 bucks.

I was thinking of doing this also. Puts the sound closer to the ears if laying on the back seat or the console.

1971. We went on a trip to British Columbia with our original 67 318 Charger we bought in 1970. Very poor reception on AM . We went to Courtney on Vancouver Island to visit friends.
We decided we should purchase a 8 track. Our friend Dale knew a guy. I didn’t want any extra holes anywhere in the interior. The place had external speakers that we screwed on through the carpet under the rear side windows. We bought the sound track to Easy Rider. Took the speakers out about 1994. No marks, no cut outs. Still have the speakers and 8 track.

I have 6 inch round rears in my 440 ragtop that were already there. They are black grilles so they don't look like an eye sore.
Stereo sounds good with the top up but shitty with the top down.
If you want to get more bass and depth they make slide under seat slim sub-woofers ( about $80 and up) that are recommended for convertibles.Good to get some thump back + with front speakers the sound is quite good

you can also buy a sound bar like for TV and lay it across rear seat.
put quick dis-connect wire couplers on it and then you can throw it in the trunk when not in use.

I like the soundbar idea if the power source is compatible.

I'm too lazy to cut up my package tray even though I have speaker holes.

I'm using home stereo speakers with fairly compatible specs (5 ohm with a 4" woofer that delivers 60 Hz)
