Rear tire fitment

Anyone with experience putting 275/60r15 DOT slicks on a 65 Coronet 4 door?
Looking at Nitto for the price but M/T seems to have deeper tread.
I have 8inch wheels with 4.5 inch backspacing.
Looks close.

Nope, I can spin them easily on the garage floor. I could spin both with the original open rear axle as well which was pretty sad. I've never heated them up, but still spin them both easily with the suregrip it has now. Pretty tame 440 auto..

I have 255 60s on it now,can't leave a light hard.
1/2 throttle it spins part way through 2nd gear.
Blueprinted Super Bee 383,Mr Six Pack cam,3.73. Idles like a stocker.

I have that on a 62 in street tires, but I want more, so tubbing is next

I can't say how they would fit on a '65 coronet, but I have the MT radial pros on my '67 coronet and they have more grip than the ET Ss tires.

Heck, your answer,is in your own post. THEORETICALLY, a 275 is 20mm wider section than a 255. So, less than an inch wider than what you have. So, if you have enough to add a half inch more tire on the inside to the spring, and the outside to the fender, you're gold.
The thing that throws us is not many with fourdoors are looking for all the tire that will fit. As a result, we don't know if the opening shape is the same as a two door.
(Or rather, I dont.)
That said, the 4.5 bs seems to be ideal for most early B's. I've got 4 7/8 bs, but with .300 spacers on my 62. 10.5-28x15 slicks fit, but are tight. Equivalent to 295-55x15 drag radials. I've got 10-28x16s too, on 16x8 4.5 bs, and they fit better.

They should fit with no trouble. Four does have the same wheelwells as a 2 door.

I have 275-60×15 with 15x8 torque thrust (4.5" backspace) on the back of my 65 coronet. Works well and I think the safest large tire/ wheel combo.

There are three levels of mickey drag radial. The nitto is comparable to the least aggressive mickey. Don't rule out Hoosiers. I don't know what their price structure is compared to nitto/mickey.

Don't know about any differences between 2 and 4 door but I had 15x8 Welds all around, 4" bs, with 275/60-15 in back and 235/60-15 up front. No rubbing.
