Hi,

Not looking to start a huge discussion, just looking for some verifications that are specific to a 1968 Coronet R/T.

I currently have 245/60R15 on 7” Magnum 500 wheels on my ride which work well. I am looking to swap out the rear wheels with 275/60R15, 4.5” back space. Note: running 3.91 gears. I have a couple questions:

-what size rim is best
-will 275 on a 8” rim work with normal tire pressure
-what set back is appropriate
-what manufacture is best

Thanks in advance.

Guy

Nice looking '68. Is that the original color?

Yes, but it was repainted at some point the original GG1 for the year.

Almost like mine in LL1.
On the wheels, mine has 245 70 R14 on the back and 225s on the front, so I'm not sure about the 15s.

Yes 275/60/15 fit nice on an 8" wheel. I think a neutral offset is right.

15x8 with a 4.5" backspace and 275/60 tires will fit your car perfectly.

I have off-the-shelf 8”x15 Wheel Vintiques magnums all the way around on my 68 bee. 275’s rear, 245’s front. No rubs

Nice. Any rubbing anywhere? Were you able to run them at a normal tire pressure, or did you have to reduce it to below 26 lbs like some have been saying on here? What gears do you have? I am looking to switch over to 3.91s in spring.

Normal pressure, 3.73’s, no rubs. 440 HD rear springs from MP. 60 series radial T/A’s

Looking to order a set of 15”x8” Magnum 500 rims for my 275x60x15 tires that are going on the rear. Planning on keeping the 7” with 245’s up front. Any recommendations for a manufacture to go with or stay away from?

275/60/15 on 15x8 Magnums on the rear of Fred right now in fact.
"Normal" as can be...

What manufacture for the rims? Been reading a lot that some are not the best.

You do realize 15" Magnums are either Ford or aftermarket, right? Chrysler never made 15s, only 14" Magnums.
. That said, 275/60s on a 15x8 or 8.5 with a 4.5" backspace should work great.
You could run 255/70 or 265/70 on your sevens, and really fill up the wheelwell. You would have to check height, might be too tall.
