Just bought a pair and they probably should be rebuilt. Throttles are a little sticky and most likely internals need freshening up.
I've ordered 2 kits from Summit (although I've never rebuilt a carb before) but willing to learn.
Any advice/recommendations appreciated.

Listen to what Mike said, and buy a gallon of B12 Chemtool. Best carb soak chemical in my opinion, and a handy basket comes with it. Take your time.

First time.....take pictures of each step, Just in case!

Hope you have an air compressor, blow air thru every single hole, orifice, etc that you see & make sure the pressure comes out somewhere. Also on the fuel transfer tube put the o-ring at the very edge of the recess & let the tube push&roll it into the float bowl(a little silicone/oil wouldn't hurt to make it roll/slide easily. Follow instructions, it isn't bad.

Take your time with them. One at a time, so you don't get parts between the two mixed up. Let the chemical do it's work on the parts.
It's not rocket science, but does take a little common sense. Be sure the base gasket surface is true, flat, so it's a good seal. If it's not...fix it!

No instructions with the kits!....... but there is U tube.

It isn't as bad as most think! Just lots of cleaning! And make sure all the parts and pieces are in place. I rebuilt the 600 holley on my pickup, and it wasn't bad at all.

Heads UP!

Be sure, when you start tearing the carbs down, keep the parts separated for each carb. And, hang on to all the old gaskets, for each carb. You need the old gaskets to compare with the new ones, so your sure your using the right one.
Many of those kits will have a couple of the like gaskets, with little differences.

+1 and what kind of kit comes with no instructions or at least a list of measurements that need to be set/checked?!

Turn the carbs around on the intake. :D Also, the fuel inlets were turned backwards for shipping reasons. Didn't want them to poke a hole through the boxes. The nuts holding them are only snug. Also, make sure all the jets are the same. Make note of what's in the first carb you do but I've heard people using different jets based on what the plugs say. And don't let anyone tell you to mill the choke horns off. Even though there's no provision for a choke plate, they actually perform just as good if not better with the choke horn left intact.

X 2 on the horns, you're not in pro stock.
Yet
Sync them the best you can, and you may have to downsize primary jets, but later for that.
In a gallon dip you're not going to fit it all in one attempt. Note sizes of jets and match them for each, same with PV, acc pump cams, etc. It's not rocket surgery, but patience is key, all suggestions prior are great also.
Have fun, and you're almost a Holley master.

"Quick Fuel Technology".... part # 3-2003QFT. Bought from Summit. It is the Holley 4224 rebuild kit. I called their tech support, there is an exploded schematic diagram with every single part shown with part names and numbers. Looks like fun.

Was there something especially different between Holley kits and the QFT kits?

Don't know, I went on the Summit site and this is what was shown as the kit for these carbs.

Probably a couple different gaskets for variations like 'miller' said. Different hole locations, venturi hole size?

Like said earlier keep all old gaskets and parts
I like to match gaskets and parts then return extras to the box so they are out of the way
also check metering blocks for straight if not pm me and I will tell you how to straighten
