Years ago I did business locally with S&K, Speed Equipment World, and mail order with Gratiot, Honest Charley, and yes JC Whitney.

'round 93-94 They opened a new Super Shop in Vegas. Great store lasted about a year then all Super Shops went belly up.

In New Jersey we had PCA, Performance Centers of America. Man was it nice to be able to walk in and purchase performance parts and accessories right over the counter. I was also fortunate enough to have a Direct Connection 5 minutes from my house. Ahhhhh the good 'ol days. Now it seems that everything I need comes from the internet.

The background music for their radio ads-

There was one about 3 miles from my house in OH, right around the corner from the 69 Super Bee I lusted after.

I never went there because all they had was chevy stuff and any thing I asked about for a mopar was expensive and 6-8 weeks for delivery.

I did a bit of business with Kammer & Kammer, who were Pro Mopar guys near where I went to HS.
Their kids were two and three years ahead of me. One drove a bronze 70 Hemi Challenger, the other a B5 69 Six Pack Bee.

I was super poor growing up and most of my parts came from the JY.

About 5 blocks from the HS was "George's Speed Shop". Proprietor- "Ohio George" Montgomery.

I put a warmed over 283 Chevy in my 50 Ford coupe and immediately started stripping the teeth off the cluster gear on my 1st to 2nd shift (three speed on the floor). I'd head out to Dewey's junk yard in Novato, CA and pay him $25.00 exchange for another transmission. After a while he'd have a couple next to his shack waiting for me...lol. Finally saved enough to buy a used Muncie 4 speed. Shorly after I sold the car.

Yep super shops in fresno, and Eddie's Speed Shop...THE places to cruise to. Used to be the only way to get all the high performance parts that are so readily available all over the Internet nowadays... Friday/Saturday nights back in the day it was like a car exhibition... (if you didn't do a little burnout when you pulled out of the parking lot there was something wrong with ya)

My buds and I called them Stooopid Shops. In this area, everything was Chevy and they had nothing for Mopars.....ever.

What happened to my "All I Ever Wanted..." post?

It took me about 100 times of hearing that add and the few times they played that song on the radio, they NEVER said who it was.

Doesn't even really sound like the majority of his works either.

Man do I miss the days of going to a junkyard and finding good old American muscle. My first car was a 69 Charger in HS and I got a 440 out of a motor home at the local JY. Cost me $500 and it fired right up.

I worked for them back in the 80's.Beaverton Oregon and Salt lake city.Being a mopar guy was tuff with endless chevy parts around.Toured Erson cams and Mallory in Carson city.It was cool, always had a bead on all the local street racing action.

I've lived in Novato, alongside the 101. I did a lot of living in Marin Co., Sonoma Co. & the City.

Neil Corneilson Was in Creston. Iowa and I lived there during his hey-day. I spent a lot of money at that place !!................MO
In them days parts were more important than food and rent. Pre wife and kids.
Could buy about anything Mopar and carry it out the same day. Yea I missed the place.
