I remember a gas station that gave out drinking glasses and washing detergent that did the same.

Had them here too and some were pretty nice glasses!

Here in upstate NY we had S&H green stamps, but my mother saved the Top Value stamps.

S&H up north and TV stamps in the south iirc.....anyways, I remember both and doing the 'lick and stick' stuff.

As kids my neighbors were smokers BIG TIME. House was always in a cloud of smoke.
Anyway they bought everything with Raleigh coupons that came in the packs.Lots of stuff.

Ya , as kids we love to lick those nasty things and paste the in the books.
While at the swap meet we werr riding around in the golf cart when I turned to go on another isle and I spotted this immediately. As a kid (7-8) when I visited my grandmother in the evening I would pull out her Sears catalogs. I used to drool over this bike, there was no way we could afford it but I could dream. It was that and the AMX race tracks. Its funny I havent thought about that in 45 years but knew exactly what it was as soon as I saw it. Talked to the kid that had it told him every thing about it...wanted $200.

Did the same with JC Penny's and Sears. Only I was jonesin' for their mini bikes.
Used to leave them open to the pages with 'um. Didn't help.......

Met lifelong friends, and got my first real job, as a direct result of "Blue Chip (stamp) bowling". I remember the S&H too, but blue chips were more common, and easier to get. (Southern California area).

When I grew up in Orlando I remember my mom using/collecting the S&H Green stamps. Books and books of them. I just never knew what they were for.

We lived in MA and got the Top Value stamps at the local ADAMS Supermarket.
I was just a kid, but I remember quite clearly it didn't take long for my Mom to fill up a book just doing her regular shopping. She got a LOT of things with the TV stamps, most of the items weren't just the usual made in China crap.
One thing that I thought was so cool was where we shopped, the 'store' where you'd go to spend your TV books was right next door to Adams. I remember only getting one toy from there, but I didn't care, I thought it was neat being able to shop and get other stuff for 'free' too.
My Mom had gotten a couple of basic lamps for the bedroom. They were unique in that they could stand up or be hung on a wall (they had a 'joint' that allowed them to bend). She had those lights for over 30yrs before getting rid of 'em.

WOW, haven't thought about this in a LONG time. *sigh*

Wow... Up until Oct 4 2020 Those things had a hell of a run. They are gone now but Kroger rewards,Walgreens rewards and the like reward cards have taken it to a digital level.

Who remembers Blue Chip stamps? They
were around about the same time as S&H.
Just about every time someone digs up this
old stuff, I get a Statler Brothers tune playing
in my head.

Growing up in SW Atlanta, mama did both S&H and Top Value stamps.
Lots of them....I don't recall ever getting anything out of it, but I liked helping her
with them just the same.

As far as gas station giveaways, Pop was quite the stickler for finding the cheapest
rotgut gas around to buy, giveaways be damned - but we had one summer I remember
when Union 76 was giving away those orange styrofoam balls with their "76" logo on them.
We boys got quite a collection of those going....
Come to think of it, I wonder if I could find one of those now?
