Remember These Things?

S & H Green Stamps was founded 1896 by Thomas Sperry and Shelley Byron Hutchinson and went on until the late 1980s. My mom collected them till they stopped handing them out!! They were a big deal for her, God love her!! ............................ Thanks for sharing, great memories!!

As kids my neighbors were smokers BIG TIME. House was always in a cloud of smoke.
Anyway they bought everything with Raleigh coupons that came in the packs.Lots of stuff.
My mother in law smoked/burned 4 packs a day. My father in law tried to quit but what for since she kept the place smoked filled. I about died every time I went there and sure couldn't do it today....but don't think they did the coupon books because it was too easy to order stuff off the TV with a credit card. She had no patience to wait until the book was full lol

I have 3 JC Penny minibikes
Man I envy you. To this day I still have a thing for mini bikes. I look all the time but need it to be street legal.Just bought a Honda Metro for the wife and I got a Honda Ruckus. We replaced our 50cc Yamaha Zuma's.
Small town so a blast to ride around.

I still have a couple of these we'd get at gas stations from back in the 70's... in NYC area, Giants and Jets.

I have a couple street legal minibikes, they are really hard to find with street titles

I have a CZ 380 motocross bike that has a title. Years ago I thought about licensing it for the street. Road tires, rear shocks, and battery lights designed for bicycles. It has an expansion chamber with a very small resonator. Since it is a big bore, the exhaust is not that nasty. I didn't because we had noise laws, but not today. I think it would make a fun street bike. 43 hp and 105 kilos.

Oh she is the one that had a problem.....because I wouldn't let her smoke in my home. I used to smoke a cigar once in awhile but never in the house. Didn't want my kids breathing my smoke or anyone's inside the house they have to live in. Both my parents smoked and remember all too well what that was like....

We were so po that Green Stamps bought us our Santa Claus presents and our stocking toys were the toys out of cereal boxes. I had a brother 10 years younger than me and was told, "Since he is younger he should get most of the presents", and just like that, my presents became underwear, socks, and school clothes.

^^^^^ That's what makes us stronger and more resourceful because of living thru hard times.
I wanted a Schwinn stingray in the worst way. But growing up folks couldn't afford such a thing.

Yeah, my buds/my sister all did the Marlboro Miles stuff,
from Flip Top packs

I have a couple of insulated tote bags,
something like 20" long x 12" tall x 12" wide, zipper on the top
looped handles, it makes a great portable ice chest, for the boat too
one of them I used to carry my hammers pry bars screwdrivers chisels
even carpentry/electrical pouches 'tools in' on job sites,
so I din't make several trips, soft so it wouldn't scratch surfaces too

given to me
I think I still have some of it
from my older sister that was an avid Marlboro Lights smoker
when young... Nobody in my family smoke now...

Camel had some deal like that too

My dad was a Lucky Strikes guy, I remember they had a similar promo aslo

I was a Skoal & Latter Kodiac lid redeemer,
for cheesy/trinkets or products, I really didn't need

funny the **** we got & remember

Oh yeah. Big redemption place on Union Blvd in Allentown.

My grand mother used them for Christmas gift’s. This is my rocking chair she gave me when I was 2 years old. 59 years ago. It has held up through me and my three daughters and five grandchildren. It’s held up pretty dang good I would say. View attachment 1280200
One of my first memories is crawling through the legs of a chair just like this.
