Replacement engine recommendations?

Hi, hope everyone is having a good day. Not a B -body question but still a Dodge.

I recently removed the v6 3.9 engine in my 2001 dodge ram truck to rebuild it. This was my first vehicle so it has sentimental value. The engine shop called me today and let me know the block has a crack at head deck near a blind hole as seen in the images attacched. Does anyone know where i can purchase a good long block or short block replacement? Thank you in advance.

Local wrecking yard? Lots of those used in trucks, Dakota's, vans.

Just look in your local craigs list or face book market place. There are lots of them available.

You can also source a rebuilt engine at a local parts store with a 1-2 yr warranty. ATK comes to mind as a rebuilder

I believe that would be an LA 3.9 with a roller cam.
They are different than a Magnum 3.9 engine which started in 1992.

DOH! sorry.. my brain read that as 1991 for some reason.. long day..

If it were me, I'd consider going to a 5.2 or 5.9.
I swapped my Dakota from a 3.9 to a 5.2.
It's great for towing the boat.
