At home. Do it yourself, I have done five of them. They have an Odyssey battery inside. Once you do it correctly the first time it is replaceable forever. I have a spare in my car trailer for my winch just in case the one in the car ever craps out on me while I am out.where?? shipping would a bear !!
I have gutted 3 of my own and have had good results with each.At home. Do it yourself, I have done five of them. They have an Odyssey battery inside. Once you do it correctly the first time it is replaceable forever. I have a spare in my car trailer for my winch just in case the one in the car ever craps out on me while I am out.
I take my dead battery out and I have a friend that routes a relief or step in it for me and shears an aluminum plate to fit in the relief. Then I countersink, drill and install screws so that everything is smooth. The guy spends two guys, two hours on it, mostly setup and charges me $100, but it looks nice. I have done them for friends and people that are in a bind, but man is it messy, I mean, like roofing a house messy. I hate doing them. There is a niche market here for someone to buy up cores and do a bunch all at once. What we need to the DIY guys is a repo empty case at an affordable price, and you supply your own battery for the inside.
They are worth $20. Garbage or display otherwise. They are worth $200 when they are ready to put the new battery in them. The replacement Odyssey is about $300. So you have $500 or so in a used looking battery.I have tried to buy up some cores when I see them at swap meets or for sale locally, but everyone wants stupid money for a dead battery. Like $150 to $200!!!
Joe Suchy is doing fine and has recovered.Did you try Jim Kramer? I think he is in your area. I heard that Joe Suchy is not yet recovered from his heart episode and is not doing any business.
