I will probably get grilled for asking, but..... As a few members here are aware, I have been working on a stroker 440, 512" engine build for some time now. Only to discover after magnafluxing the block twice, assembling the entire engine and dyno tuning it, finally installing it in the car and was on second test drive, only to discover a crack in the block..... :BangHead: I know, I could hardly believe it myself. Any rate, disassembled everything, no damaged noted to anything except the block and sadly lifter wear from my flat tappet camshaft. After securing a new block, machining has now been completed, I am going to change directions and go with a hydraulic roller cam. I spoke with Mike at 440Source regarding his recommendation but wanted to bounce it off a few of you guys for your cam recommendations if you have a moment. Here is some of the package I previously ordered from 440Source, going into my 69 Charger with a 5 speed TKX and a dana with 3.54 gears. The old engine that had the crack netted 515HP on dyno. I want to have a nasty sounding cam but not looking for a gorilla on the street that is difficult to manage. I do not intend to race this car ever, but for some reason would love to have that dyno closer to 600 than 500HP.

Engine is 030 over
Platinum series 4.350 pistons
Trick Flow power port 240 aluminum heads
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
Holley 950 carburetor
TTi headers
TTi full exhaust

I really would appreciate any and all thoughts. Thank you as always.

I built a 512 using a 400 block and trick flow 240 heads and went with 440 source hyd roller with 600 lift and 3.55 gear and 28 inch tall tire. Mine is auto trans and is a very manageable combo for a street only car. Has tons of TQ and others that built the same combo had dyno numbers in the 600 HP range.
I think you would like that cam!

PS. It likes gas

What were the specs on the first cam that made 515hp?

Compression ratio?

What ratio rockers are you using?

What size headers were used on the dyno?

What was the peak TQ?

Can you post the dyno sheet?

With the no racing ever I think something in this range will give you smooth clutch engagement and no low speed bucking with the clutch. Smooth power with torque everywhere. I would expect 550hp as my uneducated guess. Maybe add 6* of duration to both sides for a little more guts without much effect on driveability. @PRHeads just spec'd a hyd roller for my 505 with the same setup as you except I am running a single plane intake. It should be on the Dyno this week. My cam is larger but that is what I am going for.

The trickflow cam is another to consider.. they made 600+ hp with it
I built a mill for a guy using it. No complaints

Yes! This is the one I used and have no complaints. Has a nice idle and performs great at higher RPMs. I don't think you would be sorry.

Thanks for the reply! Tried to PM you but your inbox was full. Curious as to if you went with the whiplash cam

I’ll see what’s in my mailbox. I never use it.

I didn’t use the whiplash cam. I filled out their form for a cam recommendation and then talked to the guys there. The cam they recommended me I really like. So far my favourite. It has very very quick throttle response and sounds very nice.
