You're going to be spoiled with that A/C. Very cool to have it, stay frosty. :)

That AC would be a welcome relief with all this humidity we have around here, been raining for a month i think, now its just hot and sticky! Video sounds like a good thing.. Good luck and enjoy that AC :)
I defenitly will, it turns out that my camera takes video's and I didn't even know it so I'll do it ASAP. I haven't been home for the last several days so now that I'm making headway, hopefully I can get back to work.

Pulled the valve cover today and guess what "soft lifter again". Is there anything other then bad lifters that would cause this before I jump to conclusions? The first two I checked where solid then the next spongy as hell. I talked to the Comp guys at the Good Guys show, they informed me that while they do outsource them they are made hear in the US by the same company that makes GM's and that if they are bad again they would hand pick the next set. I'm not really wanting another set but really can't afford new ones at the moment either so here we go again. The good news, I fired it up and actually drove and steered it out of the booth to get a video of the exhaust "first little drive". Bad news, can't figure out how to open the video or anything else (it's on a SD card and my computer automaticly opens it in the picture library and then won't play it). No clue

Bummer about the lifter, wonder if they're just Grade A Chinesium that's "made" in the USA..
And what computer are you using to view the video?

Don't know but hope they weren't pulling my chain. I'm using an brand new Asus (windows 8), I'm thinking I have to open it with another program I'll mess with it later tonight.

I am really enjoying your work. You've got a lot of talent! How is that new a/c doing with this heat and humidity?

Thanks, a little encouragement goes a long way. I was a little skeptical at first being a window mount for up to 1,600 sq ft (garage is 1,800 minus the paint booth that is insulated) but so far I've been leaving it on eco mode while I'm not in there and then cranking it up while I work and it's doing fine. The garage is nice and cool when I go in and gets cold real quick, seams to help running a fan to move it around too. Needless to say with the blistering heat we've been having "I'm loving it". Now if I can just get all of my other projects out of the way.

Stay cool... I know my garage is a hot SOB this time of year, southeastern exposure, all morning & afternoon sun, the fan in the window on the south side pushing out the Hot Air & drawing cool cross air flow from the shaded side of my garage, blowing the heat outside & 12" of blown in insulation above & insulated roll up door, really helps too... But those 100*+ days are a PITA, sometimes I open the door to the house & let the new killer house 4 ton A/C unit, I just paid $10k for last summer, to help cool the garage before I go out....

Damn more lifter issues, I'm so sorry to hear that again...

Joy, Joy, another problem, because my cam is most certainly broke in now I'm reluctant to put another set of lifters in so I decided the next logical step would be to pull the bad ones and clean them in hopes of getting them working. Well, I found my first bad one, cleaned it and primed it "same thing" pumps up ALMOST to the top leaving it spongy. Pulled it apart again, since I didn't think the check valve at the bottom of the plunger was removable I gave it a good spraying and then a good shot of compressed air, that's when I learned "it does come apart". Some went hear, some went over there and the spring is know where to be found "Lovely". Now what do I do, tell them I lost a spring?:angryfire:

Wow......you gotta be just livid! That's nuts. Just tell them the thing flew apart in the garage and you can't find it. Important part of the conversation should be why the hell can't they make a decent lifter. Solid lifter cam with roller rockers and call it a day........

My thoughts exactly, they were willing to send me a new cam last time so I think I'm going to take them up on it only with solid lifters. There's another whole night shot in the *** plus all the gaskets, oil, and headaches.

your probably, way more patient than I am... "Patients is a virtue" & I lost my virtue about 40 years ago...LOL...

I would tend to agree, I'd be LIVID as hell, to say the least, with all the problems he's having with hydraulic lifters, seems we see way too many of these type issues today... I don't know why, but I've been extremely lucky in parts selections over the years, never really had any major parts issues... Knock on wood.... I find a brand or supplier, with something that works well & I stick with it, kind of brand loyal, you might say or maybe just stubborn as hell... Way too many people price shop, buy the sale stuff {go cheap, not that 747mopar does, I doubt that's the case} or go with the newest "supposedly" greatest thing, that's not proven over time "yet" & that bites you in the a$$ every damn time, it seems...

Comp Cams used to be a great product, I'm not so sure now... I've seen allot of little issues posted on a couple forums lately... kind of like what Hughes has been going thru off & on in recent history too... Not sure what the deal is with either company...

I don't know that I'd call it patient, it's more the fact that I'm so close and this is the one hold up regarding the drive train. Once it's done I'll feal like I can move on but for me, this will drive me nuts until it's resolved. I'm like you when it comes to loyalty, I've always had good luck with Comps products and am really disappointed with the situation. I stear clear of the cheap imitation parts so readily available now days like when I see a set of Mopar rockers for under $400.00 I get really suspicious. I'll let you know how they handle it, I'm guessing really well.

When it rains it pours "literally". What a @#&% day, I was in the garage trying to get some of the side projects out of the way when it started pouring, then lightning and high winds, I kept on working until the garage floor started flowing with water "flowing". I had this problem last time it poured but was never in there when it happened to see where it was coming from "my worst fear was true" over the years our bank behind the garage has been slipping combined with my dad not putting more drains in when he added 40 ft on the drains can't handle it all so it's coming in under the wall "great". If that's not bad enough while I was frantically trying to divert all the water into the drains with sawdust the drain pipe plugged between the first and middle floor drain causing my very own old faithful, I'm thinking "really, are you serious". I tried and tried to unplug it even going into town to rent a snake only to find they were closed "the trip to town proved to be an adventure, water flying all the way over the windshield". By the time I got back it had slowed down, garage looks like a disaster, another couple weeks of running fans and the dehumidifier to get rid of the moisture and stink. On top of that Comp was of no help, they kept sending me to the warranty department which obviously never answers the phone meaning another call back, another 15 min waite for a rep and then being transferred to another phone that doesn't get answered. Accomplishments for the day, driveway (I just fixed) disaster, garage disaster, nothing resolved with lifters, plugged drain, and I don't even want to think about all of the shovel work that will be needed to fix the garage. On a good note, my paint booth stayed perfectly dry where my baby sits.

Rented a snake today, no luck. Then 40' of 1/2 pipe thinking it was sandstone and I could break it up "nope". We managed to get it clean enough to look inside with a mirror and see that it was collapsed, looked like a root on the other side. How do roots grow 10' under a concrete pad? Tomorrow I'll start breaking out the concrete floor to repair it unless one of you has a better idea. At the end of the day nothing is fixed and what money I had saved for my clear coat is gone "man do I love it".

Roots through drain pipes are fairly common around here. There is a company called Roto-Rooter that has a machine that cuts them out.

I know they can but I'm not 100% certain it is a root and even if they do they keep coming back. If I open it up I'm going to get a buddy that works for a tree clearing company to spay it with some nasty chemical that will kill the whole tree if that's what it is and then I can repair the pipe. The pipe appears to be almost pinched in half. Thanks

Woo, that was a close one, the Cruze took one for the team today "thank goodness". I've been having trouble getting @#&$ in my paint on the last couple parts I painted and have been making little tweaks to the booth plus really cleaning it before painting, today I was painting the Cruze when it happened again only this time I actually saw it come out of the gun. I run plenty of laquer through it after every use and break it down for a thorough cleaning. I found the problem, it's coming from the neck at the bottom of the cup where it connects to the gun "won't happen again" for now on it's getting completely torn down. That was close "the Charger was supposed to be the next paint job $1,000+" I always new Chevies were good for something. Unfortunetly I'll be doing a little touching up on the Cruze, wet sand, hide the specks, re clear, sucks but at least I found it before the Charger.

What car gods have you pissed off lately to have this run of bad luck? Hopefully it flips back the other way soon.
