Ride height on my '67

After I got the new tires and wheels on I adjusted the torsion bars to drop the car some and was measuring from the ground to the top of the wheel well. Got the front looking good so thought lets just check the rear since Im here, the driver side is 26 3/4" and the passenger side is 26". It is kinda noticeable to me when you stand back and look at each side and I dont like it.

Is this normal? The leafs, shackles, mounts all seem to be good and the same side to side. I thought about shimming one side of the housing with a block but am concerned this may have issues on the axle bearings or tires since the housing would be sitting crooked. Perhaps shorten one of the shackles?

Also, since I dropped the front with the torsion bars (about 1.5") should I get a wheel alignment done? Seems to drive kinda different then I remember from last year.

Thanks to all the advice here I put in the rear air shocks and it solved all my ride height issues as it self-levels and lets me set the height with pressure, highly recommend it from a cost versus result point of view.

Air shocks are fine but One thing I've seen many people do is tie both air lines in together, big mistake. Each shock should have an individual line and fill valve.

I always thought the shock was to control bounce not to level the car.

To olddog67.... sounds like one of your rear leaf springs is a little tired. Super Stock springs (by design sort of) make the rear end of a car very un-even (3" at least) and I "levelled" my rear end out by adjusting my torsion bars up front differently. I may have one side of the front higher than the other, but overall the car looks level now.

Air shocks are meant to level the load if you're pulling a trailer or have bricks in your trunk. They're "supposed" to be used to raise the rear end back up to its stock height so your suspension is aligned like the factory intended.

Yes, olddog67, you should get another front end alignment.

Would it hurt anything if I put a 3/4" spacer or lowering block on one side of the housing?

You might want to check the rear springs for broken leaves first. They might show up from the side as a crack.

Try swapping springs and see if things reverse.

Also check for previous accident damage that may have one wheel opening higher than the other.
