Well, the speedometer in my son's '63 Belvee was not working. Now, I could have spent 30 dollars plus shipping for a USED one, or 54 dollars and shipping for a 'new' one. NOT ME.
1) Jacked-up the rear of car.
2) Diagnosed the cable was not turning by looking at speedomater-end of cable.
3) Took the cable off the trans.
4) Diagnosed the pinion was 'wallered-out' on the inside.
5) Cleaned and prepped the pinion.
6) Applied resin and hardener to the area by a syringe, carefully keeping the pinion vertical.
7) Pushed the cable in place, and let dry overnight in vertical position.
8) Replaced the cable and...'WALLAH', Speedometer WORKS ! It has kept working for the past 100 miles...I suspect this 'riggin' will keep working well.

You may regret gluing that together like that

Not as much as 'breaking the speed limit fines'. Besides, I did weigh-out the pros and cons...the pros won. I do have a correct spare cable. Yes, you are right in pointing out that this is not the desired way to fix this problem.

My best regards, Rick
