There's a guy who works where my wife works who drives a 69 Mustang Mach 1. I see it when I drop her off at work, and I mentioned a couple of times that I thought it was a nice looking car. Yesterday, she tells me she found out who owns the Mustang and was telling the guy how her husband likes it, and he immediately tells her how he loves my 74 Roadrunner and to ask me if I would be willing to do a straight-up trade of my Roadrunner for his Mustang.

Here's the car:

I talked to the guy this morning. The car is an original Mach 1 with a 351W, an optional 4-speed, black interior, and the rear has been tubbed. He fired it up and it sounded great, and he was all about trading it for the roadrunner, but I told him I had to decline. I hated passing up a car that's worth 3-4 four times what I've got in my car, but his car is a stick and I'm an auto guy, it's blue and I hate blue cars, and it's not a roadrunner. :)

Send him my way! 'course, mine's a clone, so he can hold on to the spoiler and hood scoop.

Glad you didn't do the trade cause i was just beginning to like you. LOL just kidding, that is a nice mustang i would have thought about the trade myself.

It would have to be worth 3-4 times as much to even consider trading a mopar for a ferd.. :)

Make the trade.
Turn around, sell the Mach 1 for $25K and then get yourself a 68 thru 71 B-body.

I own a 69 Mach 1 and a 70 Charger. I wouldn't trade either car except if someone wanted to trade a 69 Charger 500 or A12 car for my Mach 1. Not likely to happen!

That's what I was thinking, and I would do it in a second if I had bought my car as is, but I pretty much rebuilt that car from the tires up, so there's a lot of personal investment in it.

^^^that may be true, Bru. but think what your ROI (for the RR) would be, it would be stellar!!!

I'm very far from a fan of Mustangs (A$$hole of the car scene imho), but a '69 Mach1 is the exception to that rule. I would of swapped a 74 RR in a heartbeat for it. But then I don't really like the 74's that much... so I'm biased. I'd have to have a really hard think about swapping my 68 Net... probably wouldn't have done it once its finished. Before I painted it? maybe, but I'd rather a finished BB 'Net over a Mach1...

although a 69 MACH 1 is my fave year for a 'stang. i wouldnt trade either of my MOPARS for it. nope nope nope !

If you sell the Mach 1 and use the cash for a Mopar... did the Mustang really happen? I think not.

I'm mopar through and through my first car was a 73 RR. 71-74s are my favorites but regardless my current 73's keys would have been in his hands. I'd cruise a bit in the Mustang then flip it. I could own multiple 73s or get my all time favorite a 72. Hell I'd trade my project 71 Barracuda for a 71-72. A rich man told me years ago "no matter how much you like something always remember its for sale. If you live by that motto you'll be a wealthy man".

I think this dude has got aims on your wife.... not your car!!!

A wise man once said, (not me) Everything is for sale for the right price.

I'm sure she would appreciate that thought. :) My guess is there's not a dime of his money in that car and mommy and daddy paid for it, which is why he's willing to take a big loss on a trade. I could be wrong, but I've seen that breed too many times over the years.
