If you ordered the GTX option in 1972-74, it was available ONLY with the 440.

Beginning in '72, the RS vinned GTX model with its standard 440-4 was dropped from the line up. The 440-4 became optional for the RM Road Runner. There was no GTX option to order but when you ordered the 440-4 in a Road Runner, you received the GTX badging.

From the 72 Plymouth Advance information flyer...(This early info also shows the 440-6 was intend for release in 72. The early cars were not "mistakes.")

I think there were 3 440-6 pk cars that slipped out in 73
