Note where the pump housing ports also go to the heads. This was usually the setup on 413's and not 440's but I have heard of the early 440 RV engines having it too although I've never seen one. All the ones I've seen have been 413's. These heads can be used with regular WP housings too if you use the block off plates. These heads have the WPH ports on the back but have the block off plates back there.

Thanks, that's something new and cool. I've never seen one before.

I have one of those 413's as you have pictured here. But I was told there is also some kind of a problem with the exhaust manifolds as well as the water pump housing bolting to the front of the heads. I have it sitting in my garage just taking up space. I really haven't found much information on it except a friend told me there is some good strong stuff in the transmission and the Holley carb. will work on one of my 440's. But like always there is a strong possibility he could be full of it. Do you have any more information on this engine? Thanks.

Here is a picture of mine.

Besides the transmission having the short tail shaft and a bolt on yoke, it should have the heavy duty larger drums and clutch pack and 4 planetary gear sets. Other than that, I don't know.

If you want to use the truck/motor home heads then you are stuck using the exhaust manifolds that come with them, the exhaust flange bolt pattern is differient.

Never paid much attention to the heads since I never intended on using them but they also look taller too....?

What about the intake manifold will it work on a 440 also the distributor will it work because I need one of those?

The intake will work but it is set up for water heat under the carb instead instead of exhaust heat like the car heads. The water jacket routing is differient in the truck heads. the distrbutor will work but you may want to recurve the advance.
.

Those engines are designed to be at WOT all day long and not burn down due to overheating or detonation. Major work horse. So if you want the perfect tow rig engine that's it.
