Sad to report what this dealer did

If it's a used car, I don't care what the dealer says or what the CARFAX or whatever report has on it. I'm taking it to my trusted mechanic and have him go through it with a fine-toothed comb.

That's the one thing that always amused me when I was involved in sales. :) People would bring their cars in to trade them, and when the used car manager would pick out all these little flaws like small dents, rips, tears, missing knobs, busted switches, scratches, etc., these folks would pitch a fit about how they were nothing and all the manager wanted to do was screw them on their trade in's value! They would all say "Hey, it's a used car and used cars show some use. Your next buyer will understand that."

Then these same people would look at the car they were buying and nitpick the living **** out of it! Every little little flaw like small dents, rips, tears, missing knobs, busted switches, scratches, etc., were all now a HUGE deal and had to be fixed and at the dealership's expense! The whole "Hey, it's a used car..." argument totally disappeared. ;) Now they wanted that used car to look like a new car!

I just have to say that I really hate salesmen (and lawyers too). I've had to deal with a few over the years and if they are too pushy then I tell them to calm down or else I'm leaving.

The warning signs were there. You asked questions and noticed some problems again they didn't respond with a good answer. Your gut was telling you to "walk" and you should have. Damn shame! First off, I would send them a USPS certified mail demanding a refund or they fix the car as they represented it. Give them 10 days, then file a civil suit. Sucks but that is the only way to get satisfaction. Be very careful about trying to publicly "shame " them into submission. You could end up getting sued yourself. Keep your cool, follow a course of action and stick to it.

Hate to hear that I'm not surprised. When my dad retired from the AF he went to work as a salesman at our local Chrysler center in NJ Lucas Chrysler, jeep, dodge. He quit shortly after because they were corrupt. He said they would have brand new cars pulled off the trailer and get wreck (dumb young lot guys) they took all their damaged cars to a repair shop that didn't report to carfax. He said there was a new ram that should have been totaled that they had fixed and pawned off. My dad said he was too honest to be a salesman and walked out. He bought our 2011' Chrysler van brand new before he quit it's been nothing but problems (been in the shop 30+ times) go figure.

Sorry it happened to you. Thanks for posting it I live in Belton and will be looking for a truck next year and wont go there.

My focus would be on whether or not the car is mechanically sound; wouldn't worry too much about the cosmetic issues. It is a used car like you said.

yea, a guy was telling me his horrow story of trying to buy a new vehicle, the dealership owner told him " i'm in business to make money, NOT make friends"> ha... ya gotta love new car stores!!??? ha

I sent a letter to the dealer. I included THEIR Carfax and a copy of the AutoCheck done by the other Chrysler Dealer. I explained to them I was going expose what happened on social media, contact the Better Business Bureau, and the attorney general. But, I was giving them an opportunity to make a proposal to settle the problem. If they did, I would not disclose to anyone what happened. Case closed. I gave them 10 business days to at least respond. After one month, I figured they were not. I have contacted the State Attorney General and his office did open up a claim and case. It would have been so much better for them to do the right thing. Lee's Summit Chrysler Dodge...go their at your own risk.

Watch yourself with the social media stuff. The objective is to recover your losses, not be vindictive in trying to hurt there business. Talk to your attorney always and follow his/her advise.
