Cop cars had a sticker that advised
not to idle in park for any length of
time (727 trans). Don't know if this
may be related.

From an old transmission dude, told me, well versed in cop cars CHP
the front pump doesn't pump much fluid in the trans in park for extended periods
not good can get pretty hot
in neutral the front pump is fully engaged, feeding plenty of fluid
(why you check, warm in neutral, so the front pump is fully engaged)

my old roommate Jeff B. "The Beak" his dad Wayne B. was the Lt (later Capt.)
for the CHP in Martinez hub at the time
he told us about that 'warning plaque on the dash', that's what it meant

OK, ever since dadsbee had that happen to him, I have been afraid to let my car sit idling in Park. Has anyone else ever had a problem like dadsbee? Anyone?
My friend AJ had a friend back in the day whose new Cobra started itself and drove into a staircase at the apartments where he resided - but that was different thing; that car had a wire that wasn't routed correctly that got hot, melted the insulation and grounded against the frame. That caused the starter to crank, and as the car was in first it just drove into the stairs. But that deal of Dadsbee's has sorta freaked me out...

The state of Connecticut was re paving a road near my house. I was going home at 11:45 am a sunny day on Oct 5. Went under bridge was 7 lanes (I-84) it was dark under there after being in bright sun. They left a manhole up 3" with no markings or orange paint to mark it. Of course I hit the edge tire blew out pushed car 5" to the right. Put in a claim with the state for new tire and front end alginment $350. A little back and forth over 6 weeks they there was a sign about the the constrution and they wouldn't pay.
