Saginaw pump pulley installation?

I have the Borgeson steering box kit from Bergman’s and I installed the pulley on the pump but the shaft has some play when pulling and pushing. Wondering if that is normal or if it needs to be pushed on further to remove the play?

The Saginaw pump will always move in and out a bit. There is no way to take that play out.
